I've been agonizing over how to connect my two subs; and experimented with several configurations. You can see my gear below.
I use the XSP-1 stereo preamp and XPA-2 amplifier stand-alone, with the record player and cd player. For Movies, I use the XSP-1 and XPA-2 in the HT-bypass mode, to provide the main L&R channels, with the XMC-1 HT-processor and XPA-5.
The problem is that there is only a mono subwoofer cable (HT Bypass) connection between the XMC-1 and XSP-1 .
My solution is to: 1) Set the XMC-1 /speakers/sub to stereo. 2) Connect the left sub to the XMC-1 Left sub out. 3) connect the right sub to the XSP-1 mono sub out. 4) plug the HT-bypass sub interconnect from the XSP to the XMC-1 right sub out
This gives me: 1) stereo subs on the XMC-1 2) two subs for movie bass channel 3) a sub for the record player. 4) doesn't seem to upset Dirac.
What do you think? So far, everything sounds natural.
Sincerely /blair

Sincerely /blair If I'm reading your post correctly, and I think I am, that's exactly how I have my system except I own a Yamaha 3020 instead of the XMC-1 and I'm running 4 subs. Splitter off of the right stereo out sub from the Yamaha and a pair of subs out of the XSP-1 in mono. on the Yamaha, I have the right subs rear and the left subs set to front. this is a very balanced setup IMHO. I just love the way it works. PEACE

Good solution to a XSP-XMC sub output incompatibility.

What about selling your XSP-1 and XDA-2? And then buy the XPS-1, phono preamp?

What about selling your XSP-1 and XDA-2? And then buy the XPS-1, phono preamp? Yes, now that the XMC is finally out, the XSP-1 and XDA-2 are redundant; I did consider what you suggest. But I've already made the investment in the hardware. I may split them apart to make the HT 5.1; then move the XSP-1, XDA-2 and XPA-2 into another room as a 2.1 system.
What I really need is an OPPO, and better Sub.
Sincerely /b

A better sub makes a huge differece! I suggest PSA. Easily the best bang for buck in All Audio/HT! I'M serious about that. Now back to your regularly scheduled program.

My one of my buddies won't watch a movie at his house any more. Last time he was over , we never got his jaw off the floor!!!! I had just introduced him to a pair of PSA XV15 se 's. There definitely the best BOOM for the buck, once dialed in they are quick, accurate and responsive .
