I use the Apple app "Remote" to control the playback of my Mac Mini, it will also control any apple TV's as well. Question for Ya, how is your iPad seeing the mini? Are you using iTunes? can I run my mini with just a iPad as my controll and screen? I havnt put a lot of thought into setting this up, but it would be great to do it as such. currently I can run jriver with the iPad app, but that only sees the program and not the whole mini. thanks I'm using iTunes with Audirvana in iTunes integrated mode, that way I can just use my iPad Gen1 to control iTunes playback, it's great for when I'm around the house using the second zone upstairs and even better when I'm sitting at the patio table outside listening to music on my UOM outdoor speakers. I'm too lazy to use Audirvana to library my music, I'm familiar with iTunes that it's just easier to use it with Audirvana in integrated mode. Download the Remote app if you want to try using iTunes from your Mini, just need to turn on home sharing on the Mac Mini and the remote app on your iPad. As far as mirroring your Mini onto the iPad I don't think that is a possibility no

I use an iDevice (iPad, iPhone etc) to Airplay direct to an Apple TV3 that is connected to the UMC-200 via HDMI. I can also use the iDevice to control iTunes on my MacMini where my full library lives and stream that via the home wifi network and ATV3. For background music via bluetooth I can use the BTM1 plugged into the UMC-200. For Zone 2 (verandah) listening I also use an iDevice to control the UMC-200 via a wifi to IR blaster.
Cheers Gary

Although I still have my Sony 777 SACD,CD,DVD player fully loaded with 400 cd's and my Oppo I find I stream most of my music. I have a CHORDETTE that I am able to stream all of my music from my computer and iPad. While I have heard many good things about TIDAL I am cheap and I resent spending $240.00 a year for music when there are so many venues to access FREE MUSIC from the Internet. 25 million tunes you can't listen to in a lifetime. I'm cheap also. Very. But when I think about buying 24 cd@$10 each @ year. Or even 24 cd's @$10 @ year for ten years. I 'd have all of 240 cd's . With Tidal I don't have to wait 10 years. I have 25 million tracks right now . I can tell the difference between 320 and 1411. Even for an old guy who has run cross country at triple digits with racing exhausts on various bikes. I set up Tidal on a PC. If you use an Apple product it automatically streams at 1411. On a PC with out Chrome you get 320. I knew something was missing but it wasn't until I played a cd and streamed the same tracks with Tidal using the same Dac ( Anedio d2 ) that I knew for sure. Then I went into settings. Sure enough. 320. D/l'd Chrome and viola 1411. Sounds great. I'm cheaper! I like having physical possession of cd's and I don't mine spending money for quality recordings. Saying that I can say I buy less than 10 cds a year. I never say never to anything so therefore TIDAL for me could be something in the future.

So, there no way to control my mini with an IPad then, correct? Thanks for your time my friend. I use the iPad App 'iSSH' to remotely control my Mac mini, you can use the VNC protocol to view and control the Mac's GUI. I started using this App when I was administering large numbers of Linux servers and kept using it when I got my mini, I'm not sure there aren't better OSX specific apps for this purpose. This is to say the interface isn't perfect but it does work. Edit: To be clear, this app is not a replacement for the Apple 'Remote' app, it serves a different purpose - controlling the entire GUI. The Remote app - as explained above - is much better at controlling iTunes.

7 day trial for Tidal seems a little thin to me, I'm sure it sounds great but most of us just don't learn that fast, or have that kind of time to play with a new toy to see if I want it. But, that's there model and money. I may try it someday if I ever get that kind of time. If you a Sonos unit, Deezer Elite is also flac 1,411. If you pay for 12 months, it's $10 per month. Strong catalog of great sounding music. With Sonos you are limited to CD quality 16 bit 44.1 due to Sonos equipment limitations.

I use all CDs or CDs to AIFF or standard am/fm tuner now to listen to music and talk shows. I also have a blu-Ray player from panisonic that is a few years old that Is used to play CDs.Also podcast. my main concern I think should be music due to the quality that can possibly be achieved. i have a about 5 yr old Mac pro desk top I could use also. i heard there maybe a company that provides lossless streaming or downloads. SACD I guess is kind of a choice. So $ and quality wise, what wisdom/experience do you fellers have? thank you! Since you asked "best or Better way to listen " I will say with Blu-ray high fidelity pure audio disc . I prefer the once with malti-channel but 2 channel kicks ass as well
