I have my mac mini connected to the Sherbourn PT 7030 via hdmi, to the DC-1 via USB. The Sherbourn is selectable in Mac Mini audio output preferences as "ROTEL HD A/V" on the HDMI port, and the DC-1 as "SPEAKER" on the USB port. The Sherbourn detects/decodes the Mac Mini Audio as "Multichannel 48k", whereas the DC-1 seems to read the Mac mini bit rate as 44.1k. Now here is the problem. The Mac mini's internet audio is playing correctly through my speakers via either the Sherbourn or DC-1 without any problems, but not i-tunes audio from the same mac mini. Yes it sounds like an i-tunes configuration problem, but what is it? What am I doing wrong? Help if you can... I am not feeling very smart this morning . Thanks in advance. PS. I also have Audirvana Plus installed on the Mac Mini, and the last time I used the Mac Mini for music, which was about 3 months ago, it was playing correctly through the DC-1. Just mentioning this, in case it is relevant. I remember also turning "Home sharing" on, in order to control the itunes music with my ipad. I wonder whether that screwed up the configuration of itunes in some way...

I am told this plays the music in its downloaded/extracted format without I-Tunes messing with the playback format. Someone with more geeky speak can probably explain better or tell me if I am wrong. I dont run an external DAC except the one in the Marantz.

No problem - didnt know home sharing messed with things - noted for when I have issues in future You know, the problem just returned as soon as I attempted to play the music through Audirvana Plus. This time around, I solved it by going into Audirvana Plus preferences and selecting the HDMI port as the preferred audio output path. It seems the HDMI out has to selected not only in Mac Mini preferences, but also in Audirvana Plus preferences. It is nice to have things working correctly again. Also, the PT 7030 is now picking up the music as "Multichannel 44.1K", but the music is actually playing in two-channel mode... Must be the formatting.

I was curious of this too since I ordered up a DC-1. I am hoping to get the music via USB but the video via HDMI...So it sounds like you can choose the DC-1 as the output device (audio)?

The DC 1 shows up in Mac audio output preferences as as a "SPEAKER" linked with the USB port. Also, no external driver-downloads are required for it to work with macs.

Sahmen, I use the same setup minus the DC-1 I have the XDA-2, what I do is use Input 1 on my 7030 and have the video from my Mac Mini HDMI but set the audio input to the analog balanced in which i think Input 1 on the 7030 defaults to anyhow for Input 1, and my Mac Mini audio setup for both the Mac itself and Audirvana both stay on the USB output, this way I get no audio drops from the HDMI as well. If there are any further hiccups, I shall let you know.

Mine is slightly different as I go from Mac Mini ==>>Usb==>DC-1 ==XLR ==>XSP-1==> XPA-1L (for 2-channel music/2.1 audio). Of course I also have the option of doing 2.1/5.1 through the PT7030, which requires the XSP-1 to be in HT/Bypass mode, and the DC-1 to be left out of the chain. However, I prefer to have the DC-1 in the chain when using Mac Mini/Audirvana Plus for 2.1 music, so I use the first option.
One thing I want to ask you is how to get the multichannel stereo on the PT 7030 manually selected, that is, if it can be manually selected for some kinds of music... I have my Oppo 103 connected to the PT 7030 for both Blu ray movies and SACD music. The HD surround modes for movies get automatically selected regularly, but I have not been able to play CDs in Multichannel Stereo as yet... If you have any suggestions, they'll be appreciated. Thanks.

I don't use any of those multichannel settings for music, I'm the kind of guy who likes what goes in comes out haha, I think you have to manually select it every time if you want to change 2.1 music into multichannel stereo.
