Here is my problem. I have my hard drive to Macbook to DAC to USP1.
Sounds good. But I select an album track and instead of it jumping on to the next track i selected on the HD, it plays something from the iTunes library.
Example I highlight Pink Floyd Animals. It plays first track then instead of going to "Dogs" it went to a Santana track off the library. How do you play the entire album?

Sounds like you may have shuffle turned on in iTunes. Below is how you can turn it off.
There is an icon below your playlists on the left side of the screen at the bottom and there is a little button that has two crossing arrows. You click that and it should turn off. If that doesn't work go to "control" at the top of the window and go to do shuffle and click "turn off shuffle".

Didn't work. it will play one song from the hard drive then go to the next artist , alphabetically, and play that artist one song after another. as normal
So i wanted to play Clapton. Played 1st track on Journeyman then went to The Cars ( wife's laptop and Itunes account). Played the whole Cars album in order. Looks like my new audio project.Finding out whats going on

Typically when you double click on a music file the OS loads whatever player is associated with that file type, with OS X it's normally iTunes, but it could be just the QuickTime player. While the song is playing, what application is displayed on the menu bar?
Actually it sounds like it's working right, if you choose a file to play from Finder, it has no way of knowing you want to play the next file. Once the application loads (like iTunes), it then goes to the next song in whatever order it's set to choose (possibly alphabetical).
Instead of choosing songs from the Finder (if that's what your doing), first open iTunes and then select the album you want to play, it should then play the whole thing.

In iTunes choose My Music, go to the menu bar, choose Controls -> Shuffle and make sure it's set to off. On the top far right you'll see either Songs, Albums, Artists, Composers, or Genres with a down arrow next to it. Click the down arrow and check Albums and sort them the way you want. Click on the Album you want to listen to, click on the song you want to play first and it will then play the songs in the order shown starting with the one you clicked. As an alternative, you can check Songs and it will be up a list view of all the songs in your library. Click on any of the headers and it will sort the tracks in ascending or descending order according to that heading. The key is iTunes will play tracks in the order they are sorted in the view you are in, or the last view iTunes was in if you click on a file directly. This should fix your problem. If not, you might have to add your folder to the library again. Good luck, and happy listening!

It should as long as your external hard drive is connected directly to your computer. If your external hard drive is connected to your router that's another matter. You can do a simple test. Open iTunes and see if all your music files on the external hard drive show up in the library. If they do, it's the way iTunes is sorting them. If they don't then iTunes is playing the files you select, then not being able to see the next file on the external hard drive, it's skipping to the next song on the playlist (from your internal drive is my guess). If your music files from the external hard drive are not in the library, click File, then select "Add Folder to Library", browse to the external hard drive's music folder and add it. If your external hard drive is connected to your router you might have to turn on home sharing (depends on your router and its software). For that click File -> Home Sharing -> Turn On Home Sharing. If your your Macbook is connected to your external hard drive through a wireless connection via your router, you'll definitely have to turn on home sharing.
