Hi I was thinking of buying two XPA 1 amps too power my B&W 804 Diamond speakers but I just seen and listen to this www.electrocompaniet.com/products/classic/poweramp/AW180.html and wow sounds so good with the B&W 804 Dimomd but they cost $A 13,000 we buy hi fi gear to sound great, but does any one know why they cost so much and are they so much better then the XPA 1 ? |

Ok thanks so Porscheguy you have listen the Eletrocmpaiet power amps and you say no can you say why they not as good as the XPA 1 amp ? just say they both cost just say $1.00 you would still buy the XPA amp ? it no point me buying the XPA amp because they are a lot less money and buying new amps so they sounds better does as nothing to do with how much they cost

Wow. Buy the Emotiva and with the money you save tade in your 804Ds and get the 802Ds. NOW we will be talking about a NICE SOUNDING system. One with no excuses. A Class A amp with speakers to match

I have heard a lot of big buck, low sales volume, dealer sold (and marked up 50%) expensive amps. And while those Electrocampaniet amps are indeed very nice, I'd buy two XPR-1's for $3200.00 and spend the rest on something else... But thats just me.  |

Far be it from me to comment on the XPA-1. I'm very satisfied with my XPA-1Ls. Perhaps, when my son moves out, I'll let him them take the XPA-1Ls and buy 2 XPA-1s. I suggest you put the money you save into other projects such as room acoustics, mains filtering and/or cables. Look at KEF as well as B&W. I find it astounding what these two companies have achieved in the last 10 years. What a wonderful world we live in! If you like to compare specs, compare THD numbers for loudspeakers with amps, interesting....
