Pioneer N 50 question

I just started using the Network Player N-50 by Pioneer. I use the USB audio to play my computer audio. When I use this input, and try to output the audio from the N-50 to my Onkyo 9070 via digital coaxial, I get no audio. If I use the optical digital In on the N-50 to get music from my PC, the audio output through digital coax on the N-50 to the Onkyo coax in works fine !
What am I missing ? I like using the USB Audio in and output it to my onkyo integrated amp , the sound is amazing.

Any thoughts?

On page 18 of the owners manual under notes it states that when using the USB input no sound is output from the digital outputs. I guess then you would be going from one dac to another. Try using the analog outs of the N50 to the Onkyo

Doing it this way will use the DAC converter on the pioneer rather than the onkyo. Depends on which one is better. If you want you can use a USB to SPDIF converter like this

to bypass the issue of no digital audio out from USB. If you use that, then the onkyo DAC is used.
