In New Hampshire this past February and March were the coldest of those two months in the past 140 years... And the some of the snowiest.. Everyone can believe what they want to believe, I just deal in facts and where I live it's not warmer.... To be fair, it "was" called Global Warming for many years and when that seemed to a hard argument to make it has been renamed Climate Change. Hard to argue there, that term covers everything. How convenient. Record cold is a symptom of warming and proves it's real, Ed... Of course George it makes perfect sense to me. If it's colder it must mean its really warmer... I'm a bit over weight and I need to weigh 40 pounds less so I'm going to gain 40 pounds because that means in reality I weigh less.. Yup. Clarity

So while the east has had record snows, much of the west has had the worst winters ever, and not just California (snowpack 6% of normal), but here in Park City (lowest snowfall on record). From what I hear it's a record low year for hurricanes in Florida? Because a term or theory becomes refined or more accurate is it just convenient that the new name fits what's going on. I hope you're not going to become a champion of the Colbert solutions to world problems.

It was a real blood bath around here a couple of days ago And I wonder how many billions it cost us to come up with"Climate Change"? Talk about a break through how profound the climate has and will change, hmm

This thread is doomed.... People can believe what they want. There is simply no empircal evidence either way. Of course Al Gore took the 250 million he made from scaring the crap out of everyone with his "inconvenient truths" and then simply vanished...... Hey, isn't Florida supposed to be under 5 feet of water by now? Oh Al? where are you? Al? That's right, he's in Key West getting' a tan

The amount of people in this thread using the "I don't believe in man made climate change because there is no definite proof" excuse not change anything in their life is astounding. SO WHAT? Let's say climate change isn't real.
THIS IS REAL: Pollution of the planet, overuse of water, concentration of areosol in the atmosphere, reduced biological diversity, changes in land use, global fresh water use, phosphor cycle, nitrogen cycle, reduction of the ozon layer, acidification of the sea, chemical pollution. This and many things can all be quantified and measured and most of them are completely man made. So it doesn't really matter if you believe in climate change or not because there are other things which nobody can deny which just shows that "I don't believe it" is a way of saying I'm not willing to reduce my footprint. Fixing all those problems I mentioned will automatically fix climate change (if it is in fact man made) so again it doesn't really matter who believes what it's not the real issue anyway.

How convenient. Yeah (sigh), "Global Warming,...we hardly knew ye!" The term "Global Warming wouldn't stick with people who tend to believe their own eyes ears and experiences, so the activists conveniently switched it to "Climate Change". So when its warmer than average its proof of 'Climate Change', and when its colder than average its even more proof of 'Climate Change'...and when its drier, or wetter,... Anyway, its sorta the ol' "Heads I win, tails you lose" debate method you see...

I believe we need to be responsible and take care of our planet because we're only harming ourselves by polluting our environment. What I object to are people trying to claim that global warming (or "climate change") is factual, that it has been proven by science, blah blah blah. It hasn't. Science is not above being driven by the agendas of those who come out with their findings. What difference does that make? Does proving it somehow mean that we ought to be more responsible and caring for our world than not proving it? Regardless of whether this so-called climate change is taking place, we should be acting responsibly for taking care of our planet and its resources.

We've got a long way to go but making progress. Can't take care of feeding and fueling billions on the planet without some environmental impact. Those who would have us live tomorrow by candlelight and bicycles have not read that many of the factors that have shown to effect climate in negative ways are also occurring on uninhabited planets within our solar system. Of course, we are responsible for that.
By the way, I enjoy your humor on some of these threads...........I think may have missed your calling, or ARE you a comedian by trade?!

One thing that needs to change is that we are growing the equivalent of two states worth of corn.....for ethanol production. We are not out of oil, nor are we low on it. Reports broke yesterday that we have a shortage of storage for oil reserves in our country. First time in history this has happened. Instead of using some of the oil we already have, we continue to guarantee subsidies for farmers to grow corn for ethanol.....instead of using this corn for food. Farmers could always grow alternative crops if need be. My dad's friend was a farmer and he switched up yearly by what was in demand and paying the most. Whether it be for human consumption, for cattle feed, or as food donations, we are better suited to use our food.....as food.
Wait til the push comes for hydrogen cars. We are already faced with a shortage of fresh water yet these yahoos think running cars all over the world on fresh water that burns off into the atmosphere, will better suit the earth. Good luck with that. No wonder we are so involved with the make up of other planets. We need fresh water, ice or whatever so we can sustain ourselves long term. The same people pushing climate change are supporting the hydrogen car theory......make sense to you?

On the subject of fresh water it appears California is finally doing something about their drought problems. For many years all their focus has been on 'saving the planet' with their carbon tax scheme. Finally Gov. Brown declared an emergency and water rationing has started even though this problem has persisted for the past 3 years or more. Its an excellent study in contrasts when you think about it - of late most of their focus has been on carbon emissions it seems - and they've finally passed some taxing plans. Net result is more tax money ending up in state coffers ( where'd you think the money was going?). But not to worry - they're going to fine (read tax) water users who use too much. In other words - more money in the state's coffers. Water bills will go up too - less water = more money? Hows that work? In most everything a state does follow the money - its the real reason they are 'saving the planet' - or 'its for the kids' etc. Politicians want to leave a legacy - legacies cost money - who pays? The tax payers of course.

I find it amazing that we have fresh water shortages in parts of the country yet the US Navy has the ability to filter fresh water from the salt water while at sea for six months or so at a time. Just as the internet trickled down from the military, you would think the desalination process would be the break through technology in times of need......like this. Just think if governments invested substantial funding into this program how much fresh water we could have. Suddenly a windfall of our worlds most valuable resource.
