Hi all, was hoping someone could help me with bi wiring question. I've been contiplating bi wiring my speakers but don't get what I've been reading on how to wire them up. Seems like I have to run two wires for each post from the amp to the speakers. What I don't understand is would it not be the same thing if I just used a jumper wire at the speaker terminals instead of two lengths of wire from the amp to the speakers? After all the signal is coming from the same place. I currently have the metal jumpers on my speakers and have not tried to bi wire before. Just bought 2 XPA 1s and thought it might help to bi wire

Bi wire is basically buy wire...
Bi amp is basically after buying wire then buy amps
Some will say it helps...IMHO it's if you can afford to buy to try then ask your ears if you hear a difference....ymmv

Bi amping will change things but the real key in bi amping is to do the crossover electronically before the amp inputs.

If when you buy speaker cable you get something like Canare 4S11, you can easily switch from single wire to bi-wire. With single wire you get one pair of 11 AWG, with bi-wire (or bi-amp) you get two pairs of 14 AWG. Good cable however you use it.

Wasn't sure how the Canare 4S11 was setup up. I've been considering changing my existing speaker cable so I may just order there bi wire cable. This way it's all there weather I use it or not. Carm

bi-wiring is like using larger gauge cable it can make a difference, but will be very close to using the same wires to the single post and keep the jumper. Some say it helps disconnect the low pass filter from the high pass filter... I doubt that's really what's happening On short distances the difference will be really small, if there at all.

I have not tried it personally with my speakers. So no judgement on if it improves the sound. My speakers have the provisions.
If you can find someone with the same speaker cable --add em and listen. Who knows? I do think your money is better spent elsewhere

For me to bi wire I would need 8 additional pairs of cable as mine are active speakers and thus actually quad amped and quad wired with captive crossovers before the amps - 2 x xpa-5g2's. See LX521 at www.linkwitzlab.com for some interesting comments about speaker designs and rooms too.
