Incredible! My new LG OLED has incredible blacks! While watching cable tv the screen went to black and it disappeared! Couldn’t see it with the black curtains behind it. WOW! Even Mrs novisnick was impressed! Can’t wait to get everything up and running this weekend!

Just updated my RMC-1 but have no time to play! 😢 Must get some sleep!
Any suggestions as to what the first Atmos 4K movie should be in my newly upgraded Home Theatre?

Atmos wise I was actually impressed by Bohemian Rhapsody, the concert at the end was excellent. Once DTS X is stable the Harry Potter movies (specifically The Order of the Phoenix with the battle at the end) is the best thing I have heard so far.

Thanks so much for the suggestion, I have purchased the 4K version of BR and haven’t watched it yet. I’m guessing we’ll have a lot of fun.

She did not get to see it when I watched it the other day, and I would actually like to re watch it.

Watching it in our theater room (103” screen with 4K HDR Projector) and in Dolby Atmos added a ton to the overall experience. The Live Aid scene at the end I though was masterful.

In case you don't know, the live aid scene was painstakingly reproduced exactly to nearly the second. There is a comparison video available which shows that you can even lipsync to the actual live video. Interestingly a lot of the time the camera angle in the movie is the OPPOSITE of the actual camera angle in the live broadcast which I thought was a pretty neat touch.

The end was fantastico. Didn't really follow the historical time line very well, but good anyway

Sounds like Goldenear speakers? Def Tech actually. But both Sandy Gross. I am impressed with the Def Tech speakers. I installed four in-ceiling DI8Rs for the height speakers and enclosed them with 12" XTC baffles to keep the insulation and moisture out while boosting the performance. They sound great! Attachments:

Looking good, I’m sure they sound even better then they look! My room is not near as large as yours so I’m not in need of more output from the ceiling speakers. Enjoy brotha!

It appears you have a flock of Barn Swallows in the room, but I only see one nest up in the left corner. Is there another room where they nest? Ann

Exact same speakers I had installed last month. Unfortunately life has gotten in the way and don't have them all hooked up yet. Glad to hear you like how they sound. They get very good reviews and I love all my other Def Techs. I used some fabric baffle things I got from Parts Express. I wasn't sure putting them in a solid encloser was the best for my situation. I wanted to keep them more open air. I guess we'll see once they get up and going.

Beautifully wrapped for protection, very time consuming to unwrap without scratching. They are sweet looking for sure! Can’t wait to get them set up but I’m waiting for help so we can gently move the XPR-1’s into place.

I’ve been working on getting my system back up and running. After putting the VTI racks up I’ve found that I need to place my towers much wider then ever before. Somewhere I’ve been told that very wide placement of the speakers with a short triangle is bad for imaging. Somehow not tonight! I’m astounded how well the system sounds in this configuration. Speakers just toed in slightly and I’m amazed. And this from YouTube.
I’ll continue the speaker dance but I’m not sure how much better it can get! Until I play some higher quality tracks. Maybe this weekend spin a few LPs

New toy for my review, the SOtM sNH-10G Ethernet Switch. I’ve heard many claims about this switch, non of which I’m sold on without a personal review. Much like the claims I heard about the SOtM sms-200 streamer. Like the sms-200 Ultra se that I currently own I don’t know why the unit sounds so great, just that it do. Perhaps I’ll find similar results with their ethernet switch. initial impressions are similar to most hi-end audio gear, well packaged and nicely illustrated. The constitution, fit and finish is what I expected, top of the line. This unit does not have the optional clock, I wanted to explore the basic unit. If this unit impresses me I’ll look into further options, but let’s not get ahead of myself. Now is a good time to post any questions or ideas as to how to test this unit. More later.
