I've had my Fusion for a few months now and I have to admit it sounds far better than I ever expected, especially for the money. My only real issue (aside from a nagging issue with Harmony remote codes) is a sudden crackling sound coming from my surround speakers. Starting happening periodically about a month ago.
Is anyone else experiencing this? Do I have to send it back? Thanks!

Before you send in the Fusion make sure it is not an interconnect or speaker wire not securely fastened. Also, make sure the internals of the rear speakers are intact.

Is anyone else experiencing this? Do I have to send it back? Thanks! I have this same issue.. Just got the Fusion 8100 a few weeks ago (refurb). It's not by chance your receiver returned is it? lol I know for a fact it's not my Focal's. I've also been experiencing some other issues: 1) Speakers seem to give slight static when I change the mode to PLIIX Movie. 2) I've been having an issue with the receiver which seems to be a handshake issue? When I change the show/movie I'm watching on amazon fire tv, it seems to not recognize the audio mode and makes a REALLY loud static sound. I haven't had this problem with any of my receivers in the past. A friend of mine who has the umc200 has this same issue. His workaround is to mute the volume and click on the input which your using again and it seems to resync (for me it's hdmi 1). So far I'm EXTREMELY impressed w/ the sound quality, but very disappointed with the stability of the receiver. I'll also note: I've tried to replicate the above issues with the yamaha receiver I used in the past and got absolutely no issues (aside from not liking the sound quality)

Hi Cphaaions...Looks like my crackling issue with my surrounds resulted from a blown transistor. They're sending me a return label so that they can replace it. They're covering shipping as well, which makes me very happy. From what I gathered, this has happened with other units and they know exactly how to fix it. I've not had a loud static noise when switching inputs...but sometimes the first second or two is much louder, the handshake stabilizes, and it's at a normal level.
Just this past weekend, though, I experienced something else. The sound stayed on, but my Samsung TV picture dropped out. It didn't turn off, but the Samsung logo came up and the rest of the screen was black. God knows if it is the receiver, the Comcast box, or the TV. I had to turn everything off to make it restart.

Thanks for that info! I've submitted a request for this issue. I purchased a refurbished unit which I get could have issues...

While I'm not sure our problems are related, I had a similar issue a while back. It has happened twice. I had a faintly audible hiss/crackle coming from my surrounds. I use an XPA-5 Gen 2. I was going crazy trying to figure out what it was. After excessive troubleshooting, it ended up being the dimmer controlling my can lights dialed down to a low setting. The outlet that I have my XPA-5 plugged into is on the same circuit as my overhead lights, using a Lutron Maestro dimmer. Anyhow, I plan on running a dedicated 20A circuit to this area in the coming weeks.

This is an issue that happens occasionally and is completely random. One of the transistors used in the amplifier front end gain block develops a noise issue. Sad to say you will need to send it in for repair. Please call for an RMA and we'll take care of you ASAP. Thanks, Dan
