I recently purchased a nice used Emotiva ERC-2 CDP. It was working great all day, and sounded really good. Later on Saturday I decided to play a Hybrid SACD disc. in it(found out later they were not supported), my bad I know now.  The SACD Disc worked ok, but afterwards I tried to play the normal Redbook CDs and now none of the Redbook CDs will play in it. Any suggestions on a easy fix, or will I have to send to Emotiva? Thanks for any help! Craig |

Have you tried powering down and unplugging the unit for about 15 minutes?

Yes sir, for 24 hrs actually. The Redbook disc will sometimes play for 30s
or maybe a minute , then it stops, the unit kind freezes up, unable to change
tracks, I can only just eject the disc. It will accept the disc and start playing it though.

Thanks for your suggestions. That ERC2 was sounding so sweet too,
I wont be putting any more SACD in it, after I get it fixed!
I will not suffer for long, I have vinyl and other CD Players around.
I guess will contact Emo tommorrow. Craig

Can't say that I've ever heard of what you're describing. I know that at all the Emofests that I went to, none of their ERC-2s would play my hybrid discs but would play Redbook CDs and HDCDs after I tried my hybrids.

I called Emotiva tech support, spoke with Grayson. He advised to send in for
diagnostics and repair, since unit under warranty. Handled my concerns and questions
promptly, Very professional tech. Thanks Emotiva for great service!

recently bought a XDA-1 and play FLAC files from my PC. I like it all, as long

No, I sent the ERC-2 to Emotiva for repair. Repair supposed to take 12-14 days.
Should hear something back this week. Will let ya know when i get it back,
and hopefully would also like to know what went wrong.

Will let ya know when i get it back, and hopefully would also like to know what went wrong. Do ask if there is a firmware disc that allows playing the RedBook layer of hybrid SACD's. I could be mistaken, but I think I have played hybrid SACD's in my old ERC-2 when I owned it. If there is a firmware disc to allow for hybrid SACD's then maybe they will install it for you before sending it back to you. My curiosity has gotten the best of me, so I just tried a hybrid SACD in my ERC-1, and sure enough it plays just fine. |

I played hybrid SACD with no problem when i had my ERC-2. One of my favorite players for cds, really hard to beat regarding sound quality

Emotiva service replaced the CD transport(it went bad). But have not received my
unit back yet. I think I will stick to playing Redbook Cds only.
