Noticed the 8100 was expunged from the product page. Two days before Chicago? I haven't seen any speculation that they will introduce an new AVR.

Would not surprise me...but first I would expect a UMC-200 replacement. But who knows...both could come at the same time!

I wouldn't expect a new receiver to replace the 8100 that fast. When did the last of the speakers disappear? Long time ago IIRC - and I think I do. Not what one would expect from a serious audio company. Which is why I went with the Salk speakers - I got tired of the come-ons!

I think the hint about the Chicago introductions was that there was going to be a bunch of items with USB ports. If so I can easily imagine four items, where the USB port is an input from a computer, such as the DC-1/XDA-2 have. At the most complete one could have a 7.2 receiver (8100 successor), then scrap the power amplification and you get your surround processor (UMC-200 successor), then skinny down to stereo only and get a replacement for the XDA-2, and finally "just a DAC" as some have asked for - basically strip out the headphone jack. These would all be upgraded electronics based on the better gear now (XMC-1) or with not quite as stellar electronics and/or features for a lower price point. Of course it could be a USB toaster oven (but it better do 12 inch pizzas ;-))

On speakers, a big holdup has been that shipping costs from production location to customers prevented them from having a viable model. As Dan once said, shipping so much air is costly. I think we will see US production solve that. That has not been an issue with other gear (less air/unit). Mark

International shipping IS becoming expensive. When fuel prices have dropped, you'd expect shipping costs to drop too, but...

Maybe Emotiva can come up with something along the lines of Salk or Selah speakers. Both are great sounding speakers and just happen to be absolutely beautiful furniture grade to boot! The song towers are better than the ERTs I owned for 6 years!

The "hints" are there about new speakers but I'm not so sure there will be any. The last round of speakers which I thought were a good value were slow sellers I think.
