Dr. Johnson and Dr. David Rich are getting ready to post an article on the design of the XMC-1. It is quite a detailed "deconstruction" of the processor. It should be published in the next few days...so stay tuned!!!

Hmm, I think most of us already read it..Have you not seen the threads? Djoel Of course. I posted this thread before anyone posted the review links. The "deconstruction" article mentioned above is not published yet. It will delve into the chip sets and boards used in the XMC-1. Very nerdy stuff... As a Sr. Editor, I have "secrets" powers to predict the future (articles)!

What? no inductors wound with gold plated yak hair! No wonder this sounds as if the wool has been pulled over my private parts. You mean silliness like that?

No...nothing zany like that. However, the discovery of a flux capacitor deep inside was a bit of a surprise! This also explains a lot about the different colors of the blue lights people complain about...

It makes a huge difference you know.

I read the review quickly but I am somewhat surprised that he did not seam to prefer DIRAC LE unless I misread it. I guess his room does not need much EQ. For me DIRAC LE made a very large improvement and I do have a treated HT room. My XMC-1 with DIRAC was far better then Audyessy via Denon X4000 and Anthem ARC 510 of which I owneded both. I hope to set up DIRAC full soon.

Actually, I don't like a chocolatey sound...I prefer "spicy" with a hint of ginseng and sassafras. Mark

I hope to set up DIRAC full soon. You didn't misread it. He preferred it with his own settings over what he got with Dirac LE. I was the same way. It's a one size fits all design, which won't work for everyone. Everyone will have different experiences with Dirac and what it does in their rooms with their systems. I used the Math cal file from ansat and I still liked my own presets. It wasn't until I got Dirac Full and created my own targets that I was able to get an improvement over my preset. The reviewer mentioned a few things that have been posted here in the "Lounge." I agreed with his assessment of the XMC-1.

Keep in mind that if you're used to a certain sound for instance without room correction, it takes a while to get used to some other sound even though the new sound with room correction is more "correct" And in the end is all about your personal preferences.
