I am in a position to buy...Although I am going to wait for the news on the RMC-1? (forgot what Dan called it) or the lower model than the XMC-1 - I would like to have a understanding prior to the price increase though....@ Dan ..will we hear anything soon ? I was sort of expecting to hear news this past weekend at the conference...maybe I mis read /heard into the podcast. Cheers Joe! The RMC-1 is now the XMR-1, I think we've heard as much as we're going to hear for a while on that, and I don't remember anything in the podcast regarding an announcement on the lower product (just lots of speculation in the threads). Another thing I noticed in the review is that he listed the new $2499 price, another good detail as I imagine most will read the review after May 1 and it will avoid confusion and frustration. In any case don't wait too long, two more days.

I agree with AudioHTIT: I wouldn't be holding my breath on the XMR-1. Not meant as an insult to Emo. If I had to make a guess, I would venture five years but I'd love to be wrong.

I pulled the trigger on an XMC-1 w/ full Dirac live - supposed to arrive tomorrow. Very excited.
I've got both an Anthem MRX 700 w/ ARC correction and an Onkyo TX-NR3010 with Audysee mult32eq (used both as prepros driving XPA 1-G2s for R,L,C and XPA 1Ls for all surround channels). It will be very interesting to see how Dirac compares. For me, Anthem/ARC yields better correction results, but I actually use the Onkyo/MultEQ32 in my Living room because I was running in an 11.2 configuration (running with Golden Ear Tritons (1s in front, 2s as surrounds), SuperCenter XL, Supersat 50s in back. I was using Triton 7s as wides and SS50 Cs as highs).
After doing a good deal of comparison listening over several weeks between 11.2 and 7.2 setups, I've come to the conclusion that highs and wides are more gimmick than value (at least for my room and speakers), and clarity is better w/o DTS Neo:X and Audysee DSX matrixing to get the 11.2 configuration. This conclusion was a big part of my deciding to get the XMC-1. I should note that the highs/wides became much less prominent when I upgraded to Triton 1s in the front and moved the Triton 2s to surrounds. ld My room is a medium sized room with 9' ceilings. I suspect wides would be more useful in large and very large rooms
should be fun :-) Brad

I agree that since they really haven't given an official time frame there is no need to worry about it now. We will all cross that bridge when the XMR-1 comes out...in the meantime I'm enjoying my XMC-1 and I suggest anyone who is considering to buy one today. Whether it's 1, 2, 5 or 10 years - it won't be a long wait for me since I have an amazing piece of gear in the XMC-1 to tide me over. I did the same thing and bought the UMC-200 instead of waiting and waiting for the XMC-1 and while it did cost me a little bit of money, that was offset with spending everyday enjoying my gear vs. waiting for the next best thing etc.

Great review. This says it all--
"the XMC-1 is a no brainer when it comes to value for the dollar in the processor market. I wouldn’t buy the XMC-1 just for Dirac, but if you are looking for a more premium sound on a reasonable budget, then I would have to agree with Emotiva on this when they say “Rethink High-end.”

Two great kudos for an exceptional product! Congratulations indeed. I found this comment interesting in the Audioholics roundup ... "and a forthcoming free upgrade to HDCP 2.2 make this a compelling offering." I wasn't expecting this to be free, though maybe they mean it will be included in future models at the same price.

Looks like the reviewer didn't get Socketman's calibration file. . And it takes multiple calibration attempts to get Dirac dialed in. And the speakers that he has Deftechs leave much to be desired in absolute fidelity. I run my system w Dirac LE on all the time...I can't live without it anymore. I usually don't care what reviewers say anyway but these were my initial thoughts. The reviewer should have come over here for some tips. He complained of brightness and loss of bass,DOH been there done that LOL I wish EMO would just admit they F'd up. I'm looking for a EMM-1 Cal file for mic I borrowed. The owner is looking for it but no luck yet. I'm new to measuring and REW so could use some tips. I'm getting curves but I don't know how accurate they are. Cheers Peter in Sydney Australia.
