I would really like to read some professional reviews or some owners' impressions of the big Ego. I am not only interested in the DAC, but also in the headphone amp section of the unit. I want to know whether the amp is capable of driving power-hungry headphones effectively. I also can't seem to find the name of the type of DAC that is used in the unit. Does anybody know what type it is?

Just ordered a Big Ego as my first entry into the stand-alone DAC market. I use an Astro Gaming A40 Mixamp to get mock-surround out of my headphones from games that support Dolby Pro Logic / Dolby Digital. Does the Big Ego effectively pass Dolby content through the Toslink output, or would it come out as 2-channel PCM? The link to the manual on the Resources page for Big Ego doesn't work, but the Specifications page mentions "Format: PCM digital audio" so I'm assuming the answer is going to be PCM. Also, have you guys done any testing of the Windows audio driver with Windows 10? I can pretty much guarantee it doesn't bitstream/pass through dolby digital. It is PCM the whole way. It also won't decode a dolby digital signal. The decoding must be done in software to PCM. However this usually always happens in whatever software player you are viewing a movie in so it's not a real world problem. However....if you select dolby digital output on your game or however mixamp does it...and dolby digital is output somehow, then it will not work correctly. Think of the EGO as a stereo only PCM DAC which can do high resolution PCM above 192 khz as well.

The link to the Big Ego Users Manual doesn't appear to be working.

Is it me or should the Egos be placed under the Desktop and Personal Audio DAC section? Or are these not considered a Portable Headphone Amplifier and DAC like the Oppo HA-2 or Schiit Fulla? Does anyone know the size of these things?

The Ego's look to be the same size as the XPS-1 phono preamp.

Not that it really matters, but what DAC chip are they using in these?

The Ego's look to be the same size as the XPS-1 phono preamp. Hmm... the dimensions aren't listed for the XPS-1 either. So basically the same size as the UMC-1 or XMC-1 remotes?

That one worked, thanks. BigEgo is the one for me as I need the analogue line output. In regards to the line output, is it 3 mm or 6 mm? Cheers Gary

The Astro Mixamp product takes Toslink as an input, so I was wondering if doing PC -> e-Go -> Astro Mixamp would preserve the multichannel info. Oh well, just means I have to switch outputs more often! =]

Hey nick don't forget to add all the metric weights and measurements too for all the other products. Remember the rest of the world including Canada is all metric... I have actually held both DAC's and they are rather smaller than you might think. And I think there is an even smaller one on the cards.
