Hi Novis Can I place the XPR-5 directly on the carpeted floor? Or should I get some sort of solid base for it like a natural stone marble tile? I wouldn't place it directly on the floor for fear of blocking the air vents. Use an amp stand, or build your own with a slab of granite, soapstone, concrete, etc. You could also make it out of wood and stain it to match your decor. Can you see the two dollar garden step under my amp?? it fits perfectly!! Edit; The he stone even has grooves in it to make it look like smaller bricks but actually allows more air flow under the amp.

Well the surrounds will need approx 75 feet of cabling each (have to route them through the attic) the center speaker and left main would be about 6 feet each (close proximity to amp) and it would be 15 feet for my right main. Will it be okay if I made them all 10 awg since I'm definitely using those for the surrounds?

Looks quite solid. 16" square, about 1 1/2" tall. Brittle if dropped but solid if just laid down. I got it at my local hardware store, John Wards, not many mom and pop stores left. I try to shop them as much as I can. I was picking up something there and looked down,,,,,,,there it was, solution and cheaper then anything I could have imagined. you walk into the store and are greeted with a smile and " how may I help you" in and out in minutes,,,,,,,you can even buy one screw!!! One! Not a bag of fifty,,,,,,,,,

Thought that the XPR 5 measured 17 wide and 19 deep unless there's a slight overhang on the sides....

We place the feet on the stone not the overall size,,,,,,,he,,,,he,,,,,,he,,,,,,, Works perfectly, amp almost hides the stone completely. Cheap winner!! My friend!! Click picture to enlarge, can ya see the stone? You can paint it black if you like, but I barley notice them.

I use XPR=5 to power B&W's 803D, 805d & HTM2D. I certainly enjoy the music their combination makes. I use 14 AWG speaker cable, Blue Jean Cable, Canare 4S11 star-quad, 4 Bananas locking plugs for speaker connect, to two banana locking plugs at Amp. All these B&W speakers are very easily driven, and to make the power meter lights jump on the amp, I must play the system at a pretty good level. I have on many occasion played the speakers at realistic sound levels, and the amp holds the sound quality level crystal clear, no audible distortion. In my opinion the XPR-5 is one beautiful amp. The amp sits on a wooden shelf on a Bell'O shelving unit. It did sit on a glass shelf, but I was really pushing the limit of the weight allowable. I replaced the glass shelf. I took a chance, and did not get burned, lucky it did not break.
