Last night, I received my XPA-5 and unboxed it. Previously, I had a XMC-1 running through an old Integra A/V receiver (not an elegant solution) listening in 3.1 and everything was working fine. When I hooked up the XPA-5, I had roughly an hour of play on it when it suddendly went into fault condition and clicked into standby. When I turned it off and on again, it would work for a couple of minutes and then go back into fault condition. I unhooked the XPA-5 and noticed that the center channel was running very hot and that the XPA-5 probably went into fault because of the excessively high temperature. I hooked up the old Integra receiver and everything was working fine again. Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem could be?

Need to do some more troubleshooting to get to the root cause vs just disconnecting the whole thing. Check your speaker connections for any shorts. If you want to check for a possible bad module move the center to another channel. Does the same one do the same thing?

The speaker connections are good as well as the interconnects as far as I can tell. When I moved the center to another channel, it still entered protect mode after 30 seconds. The center channel red light flashed on when it went into protect mode so I believe it's a bad module. I'll call Emotiva tech support tomorrow to confirm and then work on sending it back unless they are able to pinpoint something I'm doing wrong on my end. This is my first foray into a home theater setup as I've been lurking on these forums for the past few years so I'm really looking forward to having this XMC-1/XPA-5 setup in working order. I'll tell you, for the hour or so it was operational, it sounded amazing.

Sorry about your luck but it happens, I have had nothing but great customer service from Emotiva so hopefully it`s sorted out quick.
