Hi all, I'm brand new to this site, but have been using Emotiva products for a while. Anyway, I am currently having a pair of Airmotiv 6 pairing with the DC-1 for music in my office. I really like the set-up. Recently tried it with movie (2 channel + a sub) and it sounded great.
Now to my question. I have a pair of Polk RTi12 driven by the XPA-200. I use this setup in my living room for music and movie (50/50). The RTi sounds ok with movie, but music seems lacking. I can sell one of my arms and come up with $1200ish. Should I get an XPA - 2 to replace the XPA-200, or maybe get a used XPR-2, or just sell the RTi and get a pair of Stealth 8?
Thanks

What are the polks lacking? I owned a pair of a9's powered by an xpr2 and they were very nice but the dynamic compression they suffered from at higher volume forced me to sell them and switch to a high efficiency speaker design. The polks only reach a certain level and then plateau... imho.

Thanks I don't think getting a bigger amp will improve those particular speakers. They seem to be an easy 90db 8 ohm speaker according to specs. A bigger amp will only make them a little louder.

Still trying to decide on that... maybe the left one With the stealths you won't need amps and I think that is a plus.

Thanks all for the rely so far
The music doesn't seem to have the dynamic, the clarity or the tight bass as my airmotiv pair.
I was hoping a bigger amp would improve the bass and the dynamic...
Thanks

But they are on the expensive side for me, since I'll have to replace not just the Front Speakers (RTi12), but also the center and the surround (currently all polk speakers).

You're at a crossroads, stay with separate power amp and speakers or move all the way to powered speakers. Personally I'd go with powered speakers, sell the XPA-200 and the Polks and get 3 Airmotive 6's. Huge improvement for a tiny net budget outlay.
Cheers Gary

I'm seriously considering that powered speakers route.

IMO the Polk Audio speakers don't compete with the Stealth line in terms of SQ, it's a no brainer

I agree about active powered speakers. I moved from Klipsch Ref 7 II to Seaton Catalyst 12C with spark surrounds. In my opinion there is no going back.
Cheers
