I just purchased an XSP-1 here on the emporium, and I'm wondering how I utilize the dual sub outs on my Marantz 7702 processor. Audyysey XT-32 does an amazing job with two subs, but I see the xsp-1 only has one sub input. I don't want to lose the ability for xt32 to work it's magic on my dual subs. Because I will only need one sub for when I'm running two channel with the XSP-1 I wonder if I can run one through the XSP and the other straight to my 2nd sub? Any input would be great! thanks!

Also, does the XSP-1 have to be turned on for the signal to pass through? I know i can go online and read the manual, but I know many of you own one, so it's just easier to ask.

If you hook it up the way you describe, you won't lose anything other than being able to use only one sub for stereo with the xsp1. SubEQ will work fine.
The fact that the xsp1 only includes one sub input for HTbypass is a major limitation for the Ht crowd.

I am probably a bit different, but I use a sub for my 2 channel via XPS-1, and use the two SUB out from my XMC-1 for Home Theater processing.
For most XSP-1 listening, I use full output to my sub. Since my XLR outputs drive the main speakers, the RCA outputs are used to drive the SUB. In my case, I have a matched Sub (B&W 750) to my main speakers (B&W 704 or Mag 1.7i). I run only the L/R inputs into the XSP-1.
I leave my Dual Sub outputs going to two subs (PSA S1500). Those are controlled by the XMC-1 and mostly used for Home Theater. Those can also be controlled by Audyysey or in my case Dirac.
For my 2 channel listening, I have my CD (ERC-2) and phono attached to the XSP-1, and have my mains and sub for that combination. For Multi-channel, I end up with 2 subs controlled by the XMC-1 and 1 sub controlled by the XSP-1 being feed a full range feed from the L/R pass through. For ALL STEREO, the mixture is fantastic, using the OPPO as source. Even Pandora sounds exceptional. JRiver sounds better with FLAC input.
Movies have exceptional voice characteristics, as well as surround sound. Special effects can be controlled via volume settings. The combination can make the HOME experience better than some movie theater experiences. (IMAX included, depending upon the theater).
IF you want to use one sub out from your receiver, I have tried sending the L channel Sub to the XSP-1, and then on to one or two subs. It did work. LFE was sent to the XSP-1 and on to the subs.
I ended up liking my current setup best.

thanks for all the feedback. I will have to think about how I want to go about doing it.
