Hello, Trying to upload a firmware update to my Sherbourn. I was sent the updated firmware and a link to the software loader program. But no directions and none are provided in the user manual (unless I overlooked them.) I've gone through the receiver menu a dozen times and I don't see any way to upload new firmware. I though maybe it would notice if the USB was connected and just start uploading automatically since that USB isn't used for anything else, but it doesn't seem to load it automatically either. If any can help please do. Thank you.

Should be similar to the UMC-200's procedure.
BTW where did you find the update?

lwt-bo,
I had to re-flash the firmware on my Fusion 8100 to fix a problem with Zone 2 volume control. I got the firmware files from Emo Tech Support via email attachment, together with the url to download the firmware uploader software for my PC.
I assume the procedure is identical, I will PM you with a copy and paste of the instruction I got from Emotiva

I received the firmware and everything else I needed from Emotiva, but when I began the process of uploading the firmware it failed because I can't get the link to stay connected. All the USB fittings seem tight enough to not be a concern. I tried multiple ports from multiple computers. One of the computers was running 64 bit instead of 32 bit so I had to download another WinRAR version. Either way I'm having the same problem. A red X indicating a bad connection from the computer(s) to the 8100. I know cables can be a problem too, so I tried another cable. It still won't connect continuously. The red x will occasionally go away, but it's intermittent. So it's either that I have two bad cables that both look and feel fine or I believe it's a problem with the USB port on the 8100. Incidentally, I was trying to update the firmware, because I keep getting video drop outs, or loud digital noises coming though. This is mostly when view blu rays but occasionally when just watching TV. Given that this 8100 has previously failed on me and been sent back for repair to the power supply, I think I'm done with it.

Sorry to hear about all of those troubles. Since you have already tried multiples cable and computers, it is reasonable to suspect the 8100.
If the unit is operational, have you tried to reload all defaults, prior to attempting the firmware update? Basically a reset, just to make sure you bring it back to factory conditions.
When I was having issues with mine I had asked Tech Support if there was a combination of front panel key presses that would force a hard reset, but there isn't. The only way to reset is through the setup menu.

Musichead, Yup, tried that too before I even considered the firmware route.

The OP was about a firmware update for the Sherbourn SR-8100. I shared my experience with the firmware flashing procedure on the Fusion 8100, which I assume is very similar or the same.
The original poster has the actual information on the version of the update and maybe a changelog with the differences vs previous versions.
