I seem to recall that a couple years ago Big Dan Laufman obtained a Butler 5150 hybrid amplifier and there were rumors this might inform future Emotiva Glass releases. My UPA-7 just went out of warranty and I recently heard the Butler 5150 and loved it.
I'm thinking of buying one in June. BUT... if there is an impending Emotiva product along these same design lines I could be persuaded to wait... I just would like to know if I should wait... or not.
Any word?
What's a 5 year old UPA-7 selling for these days? It is a great amplifier but I'm ready for a change.

Dan replied to one of my question recently that while Tubes were still on the drawing board with in house working prototypes, but they are not high on the priority list. I wouldn't expect any tube products until after they catch up launching the Class D amps and filling out the processor/receiver range.
Plus we still need the Ego range that they just showed to be launched.

Dyohn, let me know what you want for it! Will do. I won't be selling it until it's replaced, but thanks for the interest!

Same here--the amp I listen to on a regular basis is nearly as old as I am--and we are both getting tired.
Glass needs to be brought to market soon IMHO--the market is getting crowded.

As much as i want emotiva tubes as i believe that they could present a phenominal value, there are two excellent budget tube brands available right now. If now is the time check out Prima Luna and Rogue Audio (among many others).

If now is the time check out Prima Luna and Rogue Audio (among many others). The market is flooded with Chinese tube amplifiers. I bought some and I am very happy with the quality, built, and sound. The included Chinese tubes are excellent, although tube rolling is always fun and adds different flavors. here's my recent buy from china-audio-hifi.com:

Honestly, I think that tubes have past and gone at Emotiva. We haven't heard about tubes for a while. I think those are off the drawing board. If you want to sell your UPA-7, PM me. I might be interested.

Wow. I've been away for a while. How things change? In November or December I talked to two people at Emotiva about their tubes. I was convinced they'd be out between Feb and June sometime. If they've abandoned them all together, that's a HUGE let down for me.

Reading that post it seems to me that Big Dan's priorities and customers' desired products are pretty much as parallel as two straight lines that will not meet any time soon....

I picked up the Butler amp. Really good. What's a used UPA-7 selling for these days? Probably close to what you paid for it. You won't lose much money selling it. I still miss mine. It drove every speaker I threw at it without strain. As for Emo's priorities these days it should be on SPEAKERS! They do after all bill themselves as an audio company. They've shown they can design and bring to market some very good offerings. I still have a pair of ERM-1's - the first speaker they sold. We've seen teasers from Big Dan and that was IIRC several years ago. I patiently waited - and waited - and waited... Now I don't need speakers - but Emotiva does! Too many irons in the fire Dan?
