Been listening to some familiar tunes via my brand new XPR 5 and 803D's.....all I have to say is God almighty WOW..... I simply could not believe the fidelity, clarity, loudness without harshness, superb instrument separations, transparency and all that tight defined bass that I've been missing!!! I don't care what anyone says about amps, only one rule applies in my experience, more power is always better. Always over power your speakers. In my case, I could still push the 803D's about 50% more perhaps with the XPR 1's or 2's in the future.
If you have the XPR in your set up, try listening to the crouching tiger hidden dragon movie soundtrack. It'll blow your mind away especially the track with the drums. I've listened to it many times before but this is the first time I had front row orchestra seats. AMAZING and a thing of beauty it is to have good sound and great music in your life. It should be mandatory :-))

Yes definitely needs better RCA audio cables which is coming in the mail via Amazon. It's already sounding so good with just a pair of crappy no name $30 cables.

Sorry, was avin a Laff with the typical audiophile mindset.
Mood is key methinks, the better the mood you are in the better it sounds.

Or I'm sure it'll never end...I'm Already thinking XPR 2's hahahaha that's why I said "for now"
I'm just glad I did not fall for the Mcintosh salesman pitch at magnolia. That's a $4000 savings right there.

The keyword is "for now" ;-) That's two words! Actually, in the South, that's " furnow!" LOL And, by the way, NICE cables. The Beldens are durable, sound great, and are very reasonably priced. I wouldn't spend another penny there if I were you. You could spend more (FAR more) to get "different" sound, but it might not actually be "better" in any way.

You say they sound great. Great against which type of cable, brand, cost comparison? My point is none of us can audition 10 different cables and if you could how would you do it? You can rely on the testing of the audio mags as one way to make a decision, Taking your budget into consideration. I for one use this method and select companies that are well received by audio mags, communities, have been in the business for sometime

I've owned different cables over the years. Kimber, Nordost, StraightWire, Audioquest, Emotiva, Monster, Belden, Monoprice, BlueJeans, and home-made. The only two that I thought sounded reliably different (to my ears, in my room, and with my equipment) were the Kimber (less treble) and the Nordost (more treble). Since my system requires no treble alteration, I'm happy with anything but those two.
I currently have some Audioquest and some BlueJeans in the house. I find the BlueJeans better made (I like the welded connections), so those are the ones I most frequently use.
Others find infinite variety in speaker cables - I find less. Yes, some cables can sound slightly "different," but whether or not they're "better" depends on a host of things not directly related to the speaker wires at all.
If I lived in an area with high levels of EMF, I might consider some shielded cables. If I had a 20 foot or more run between the amp and the speaker, I might consider some heavier gauge (or paired) wires. For my living room use, though, standard 10-ga. Belden from BJC works well for me.
YMMV - Boomzilla

"I don't care what anyone says about amps, only one rule applies in my experience, more power is always better. Always over power your speakers. " I am a fan of high power amps. like yourself. No stranger to this, I've been running over 400 @ 8 0hms. rms. watts like the XPR 5 since 2001 in 5 channel. That being said, I would disagree that more is ALWAYS better, and certainly disagree about over powering your speakers! (Though I think probably you were speaking figuratively).
Overpowering can lead to over excursion of most drivers and can destroy the voice coils. The real trick is having a balance of power between the subwoofer or subwoofers and the main and surround channels. Most of the big power is necessary to move air as in the subwoofers and secondary, to the larger drivers within the main speakers.
And yes.....great music and sound IS mandatory!
