That's two words! Actually, in the South, that's " furnow!" LOL And, by the way, NICE cables. The Beldens are durable, sound great, and are very reasonably priced. I wouldn't spend another penny there if I were you. You could spend more (FAR more) to get "different" sound, but it might not actually be "better" in any way. Boom You sure the Beldens or any other high priced audio cable manufacturers like AQ are not using mogami cables beneath all that fancy dressing? Mogami's are so good, other companies use their cables as foundation to their high priced cables that folks pay 10-50 times more just for the name and/or hype

Or I'm sure it'll never end...I'm Already thinking XPR 2's hahahaha that's why I said "for now" I'm just glad I did not fall for the Mcintosh salesman pitch at magnolia. That's a $4000 savings right there. But man those MACs are a thing of beauty! Oh so pricey! I almost went for the 7 channel mac retailing for $6k but went with the xpr-5 instead. And I'm not sure if that was a wise decision since I'm already hearing hissing and buzzing from the XPR. I like my amps dead quiet regardless of distance and volume level.

"I don't care what anyone says about amps, only one rule applies in my experience, more power is always better. Always over power your speakers. " I am a fan of high power amps. like yourself. No stranger to this, I've been running over 400 @ 8 0hms. rms. watts like the XPR 5 since 2001 in 5 channel. That being said, I would disagree that more is ALWAYS better, and certainly disagree about over powering your speakers! (Though I think probably you were speaking figuratively).
Overpowering can lead to over excursion of most drivers and can destroy the voice coils. The real trick is having a balance of power between the subwoofer or subwoofers and the main and surround channels. Most of the big power is necessary to move air as in the subwoofers and secondary, to the larger drivers within the main speakers.
And yes.....great music and sound IS mandatory!
I meant having more power but not necessarily using all of that power to drive the speakers to oblivion. It's like driving a mustang and a Porsche. They'll both do 100 mph but only one can do it with grace, finesse and effortlessly :-)) It's a thing of beauty.

I just ran through every input on my XMC-1 and ( get this ) the only input with very faint hiss from the tweeter is the balanced in,,,,, . . Every other input is dead quiet, nothing,,,noda zero, and zilch!! Come over to the dark side!!

You're saying I should get the xmc 1? It would be great to see you sig ( gear list ) the he only time I had the little bit of hiss with my XSP-1 was in HT Bypass, once, I had some speaker cables too close to power cables and had a little his. All of the MONOBLOCKs I've ever owned worked this way. XPA-5 once did the hiss, it was HT Bypass and again with crossed cabling. I think it would be your great loss to give up on Emotiva products, but of course that's up to you.

Start eliminating possible sources of the noise. First, unhook everything from your Amplifier except the speakers. Turn the amp on. Any noise? If not, move on to the next component...your processor. Now Hook it up to your amp (with no other components hooked to the processor). Any noise? If not, then hook up a transport. If yes, the processor/pre is the problem.
and so forth...btw, you may find it's a cabling issue.

I tested it with just the XPR 5 hooked up to the speakers, nothing else was on or hooked up to the amp. And There was noise. What do you?

Want to improve the sound? Pull those B&Ws out at least 3 feet from the wall and don't toe them in quite so much

I wish I could pull them out 3 feet without the speakers being in the way of kid traffic and what not.....but I can do something about the toe in. As of now, the tweeters are pointed towards my ears at the main listening position. What's the best way to have em positioned vneal?

I know that is a little late to re bump this thread, but, i am interested to know about that hiss you had in the xpr-5. And about the position of the main speakers, i always recommend to point them like 0.5m, 3 feet, behind your ears. Off course all this theory depends on the off axis designe of your speakers. Hope it helps.

It contributes to the 3dimensional sound. Vocals are dead center.

The more coherent off axis Frequency Response, the less toe in needed. Actually when i had my studio monitors, they were flat front 0 º toed.
