Very happy with my XMC-1, to date, and really impressed with the sound quality. REALLY impressed with Dirac after moving highest freq to 5000Hz, which is possibly as personal preference. Sounded awful (to me) at 20,000 Hz. Most impressive is how seamless the speakers (sub to mains, but also all 5.1) now integrate, and the soundstage that comes alive as soon as Dirac speaker setting is used. Some questions (mods – if I need to move questions to another area please advise). Q1: Once my speaker positions are fixed and I have run Dirac measurements: - 1. Do I need to re-run it (the measurements) if I want to play with different crossover frequencies? 2. Do I need to re-run Dirac software (not the measurements) if I want to change crossover frequencies. My logic tells me 1 is improbable as measurements should not change (if I understand Dirac correctly) and that 2 is more likely, but not necessarily required. Q2: For the mic supplied there are a couple of calibration files available, but with offset at specific frequencies as below: Freq (or closest) – “EmotivaMicCalOA” – “math4full” – “Cross-SpectrumEmotivaMicCalOA” 30Hz – “-8.24” – “2.46” – “1.33” 200Hz – “3.83” – “1.58” – “1.15” 2000Hz – “-2.06” - “-0.88” – “-1.05” Which one would be correct? My logic tells me the one that came with the software, but they are quite different (up to a few dB) at specific points. I understand that the last one is specific to one mic. Or is there another file that is more generic for the mic supplied? Lastly, a photo of the XMC-1, in its rightful place, in the centre of my AV stand – it is basically the centre of everything electronically as well

Q1...no need to rerun if you change crossovers. Q2...that one is best answered by ansatMark

The CS file was done by cross spectrum for one of the members microphones that he was willing to share. The math calibration, is one that I created based on a few EMM-1 microphones that I was able to get data from other users and I created an average between them. I calibrated them against 2 microphones that I had calibrated by cross spectrum. For the calibration done by emotiva, see emotivalounge.proboards.com/post/714897/threadTony

Based on everything I read it may explain why I do not like the results with standard curve and felt like boosting my subwoofers output a bit (3dB). Again, it's my personal preference, but seems I am not alone. I will rerun everything this weekend with the (average) math file and see what happens.

See I lost out on both the summer sale and the recent increase on the XMC-1 (paid $2500). Damn Ah well, still learning the Emotiva ropes, but enjoying the processor immensely in the meantime. Next up maybe a power amp, or two

Classe makes FINE EQUIPMENT. The Emotiva should mate well with this amp and your B&W 801s
