Gen 1= 32 db gain
Gen 2= 29 db gain

Yes..but except for XPA-100 gen 1 which is 32db and gen 2 is 29 db. XPA-200 both gen 1 and gen 2 is 29db.

If I remember rightly XPA-1L's were always 29db, both Gen 1 and Gen 2.

However to get to the max volume you have to turn the volume knob up "less" than with a 29db. Same max volume and power. Not more powerful. Just depends on where on the volume knob you have to turn it. Usually lower gain is "better". |

XPA1l came out during the gen2 amps which were all 29db. Than emotiva decided to put out a gen2 xpa1l to match the other amps cosmetically. They are 29db then and now. Btw I can here hiss up close with my XPA-5 with my XSP-1 but no hiss at all with my XPA-1 gen1. The XPA-1 and XSP-1 are dead quiet with my klipsch.

I did have a little bit of hum awhile back but after rearranging the jungle of wires by moving and shaking the stand around a bit the hum stopped... lol lazy man way I guess.. that's how it started.. too many wires.... lol cheers.. |

So the XPA-1L Gen 1 and Gen 2 are identical other than Silver trims and silver power button in the front panel?

Yes. There is a minor power supply tweak they did. But they stated that it is not noticeable.

The XPA-1L Gen 1 have a 2V (Pre in)can anyone comment on how well this mates up to an amp or preamp that has 1V (Pre out)?
