The past couple of nights my subs wake up and play a loud note for no apparent reason. After hours of use, both times so far, 2 to 3 hours later my subs shake the house. WHAT? ? This causes me to spring from bed to turn them off. This hasn't happened before.. Yesterday, I check my connections to insure they aren't touching each other. And still I get the midnight caller. my subs are 5, three on one leg and two on the other, only the leg with three awake me. Any suggestions would be great, I don't want to turn them off each night. Yes, they are all set to auto on. One of them does not shut down and I've always turn that one off each night, it's placed in a convenient spot to do so. I switch it off and then back to stand by. This problem has existed for a year, so it's nothing new and not the cause I believe. Help! Please! novisnick

Auto on circuits are annoying. They are based on capacitive voltage build up when sensing of the presence of an audio signal. As capacitors age or fail, these circuits fail to perform as designed. Get them fixed or power them from a power strip that turns on when the preamp is turned on or one that has dc switching built in.

Just got off the PSA web page. Had a chat with them and they suggested to unplug the feed to it and if the sub acted up again they would fix it because it would be on them. They're other suggestion was the the capble going to the sub may have a faulty solder connection. Try replacing that cable. I'll try the cable tonight and hopefully I'll get some rest.
He did mention that a poltergeist may be present!!!,,,,,he,,,,he,,,,he,,,,,,,
Thanks all

Very strange!
Is the XMC-1 off or in standby/bypass? Is the XSP-1 off, in standby or HT bypass (or if it's not in the same system set-up then never mind)? Is the TV off or in standby? There could be some sort of signal being passed through (HDMI from TV or other HDMI-connected device, from computer going into sleep mode/wake-up/update of program, etc.) even though the equipment is basically "shut down". Look at your HDMI connections especially - there may be some sort of handshake check going on.
Have you changed anything in your system/any settings in the past few days?

Are you sure Mrs. Novis doesn't have a bad case of gas? Mark Yeah, does this happen all the time or only when she has certain kinds of food for dinner?

Not me, but Mrs. Klinemj, of course. I don't have flatulence. And, I don't snore.

Turn them off. If they still make the thump sound that is when I would really worry Turning 5 subs off and on every day is not my idea of time well spent, especially when we have switches that should do it automatically! I think I've narrowed it down to a single splitter. Let's hope!!

I fail to see how the Y splitter, a passive device, could cause the sub to turn on. Have you checked your wire routing for possible noise pickup?

The Y splitter had both ends plugged into the sub and a single feed. The point of connection must have gone bad because when I moved the splitter it activated and made noise from the driver. after taking the splitter out of the equation I got to sleep through the night. Ta-Da!!!!!!! This is for Mark!!,,,,he,,,,he,,,,he,,,,,,,
