Yes. I get loud popping noises or static when my Oppo BDP-105 is playing DSD and the track ends. I also get a much softer pop when my DirecTV receiver skips 30 sec. forward or back.

No pops on the Directv HR34. It does make a slight "syncing" noise when coming out of commercial and back to a live broadcast such as a game. It's definitely not a popping noise though and bothers no one.

Question, out of curiously does any other MiniDSP "Dirac" capable devices have any Popping and thumping issues? Thanks Dan Excellent question. I checked this out awhile back and the DDRC-88A has analog inputs not digital. So HDMI would not come into play. So there isn't any popping issue with the DDRC-88A.

I am getting pops and clicks from my speakers using my Panasonic DMP-BDT500 Blue-ray player on HDMI 1 and my Samsung UE46ES8000 TV on HDMI ARC. They happen during Blu-ray and DVD logo and menu changes, TV broadcast advert changes and when watching the news when it cuts to outside broadcasters. The pops and clicks are quite loud. Reverting to my configured Preset 1, the pops and clicks do not occur. Turning the Dirac preset back on and the noises reoccur. I have a Logitech Squeezebox Touch plugged into a Coax input and do not get these noises even on a change of sample/bit rate between tracks. It doesn't happen on the Analog inputs either. Both Coax and Analog are using the Dirac preset. I sent an email to Emotiva support yesterday. The response seems to be a stock one: "I am sorry that you are experiencing these pops/clicks. We are continually improving the firmware and I believe this will be resolved in the next firmware update. Thank you for your feed back and patients." I guess this shows that it isn't just an Oppo player issue with the XMC-1. This wan't the first non oppo with pops. Did you try DSD on your Oppo with preset 1 or 2 instead of dirac? (which won't do dirac on dsd anyway)

Ok so it seems we may have two distinct issues. general pops and cicks off the dirac preset and the dsd thump with SACD regardless of preset.
Somethimes one would think we are all talking about the same thing and this new firmware release may fix one but it may not fix both. We shall have to wait and see.

Get clicking/popping noises and also cuts of the content with any content containing digital silence. Test files here (test tone and two cuts of between track content from CDs). XBMC audio feedback cuts most of the ticks when browsing. All this is in any listening mode. Also get random popping noises when watching high-res TV channels (newer had anything like that before XMC-1). Toslink from the TV, Dirac preset. Cannot confirm if this happens or not with other presets (as obviously cannot replay the content again). The character of pop doesn't look like the above issue (no cuts heard and might happen even if there are no periods of silence). But as one of the members above have pointed out - this might be subwoofer channel only pop (it sounds like it might be, then it is understandable why there is no audible cut in sound). PS. I do NOT have any DSD in my system. Addition: I am getting clipping noises (as with integer-overflow with truncating the highest bits leading to wrap-around extreme positive values to extreme negative ones and vice versa - i.e. very loud high-frequency static noise) at loud scenes when watching some TV channels encoded with 5.1 DolbyDigital. I tend to think this is also XMC-1 bug as when I can hear clipping distortion on the TV itself (downmixed to two channels) there is no loud static - it seems XMC-1 integer-truncates big values instead of clipping/limiting them when decoding lossless stream...

I use an Oppo BDP-103 player and I hear clicks when the tracks change on CDs, SACDs, and DVD-As. I have also heard the clicks during chapter changes when watching a special feature on a Blu-ray disc. I haven't noticed any clicks when watching the main feature on any Blu-ray discs, so far. I am hoping this will be fixed in the upcoming firmware release. I think the issue is annoying, but I can live with it right now. Other than this issue, I am happy with the XMC-1.

I get loud pops and snaps when changing the audio stream from my PS3 hooked up via HDMI. Most noticeably when the disc first starts to play. It also does it when fast forwarding or rewinding.

From Emotiva (e-mail reply to my inquiry):
Thank you for the feedback. We have experienced this with some devices, and we are continually improving code. I believe this will be fixed in the next firmware update. I appreciate your patience and feedback.
Thanks, Damon Steele Product Specialist Emotiva Audio Corporation

Roll on the next firmware update, then I can hopefully get back to using Dirac for movies which make soooooo much difference.

I have a pogoplug acting as a squeezebox replacement device , output is via usb .. I get click and low level pops just by changing the volume on the XMC-1. I also experienced a freeze of the xmc-1 just by changing the file playing from a hi bit rate 192khz to 44.1 khz.
But the SQ it really pretty good,

Popping sounds heard when I Pause play rewind forward on my MED1000X Same here when I play/pause/rr/ff using my DTV DVR. This did not occur with my UMC-1, so it has to be with the XMC-1, that's all that's changed.

I am another with many pops/clicks when using PS3 as a Blu-Ray player. Very annoying. Contacted support (almost a month ago) and got the same (useless) response as posted above. Hurry up and wait.
