I'm thinking of buying a pair of the 8.2s to use for my side surrounds instead of my NHT Super Ones. I'm concerned however that they clamp to the wall by the sheetrock rather than the studs. This may result in the walls vibrating along with the movie or music. Anyone using these? Russ

Clamping to sheetrock is a very common way for an in-wall speaker to be installed.

Is there a reason you couldn't use surface mounted speakers designed for surround duty?

I put UAC-8.2s in Sheetrock in the ceiling for surrounds, and there is no vibration problem. This is how they are designed to be installed.

I think I'm going to order a pair in the next couple days. I've been flip-floping on for awhile now of moving to 7.1 and finally decided I'm just going to do it.

I'm no golden ear, and I do not have a lot of seat time with them because they are at my parents' house, but they sound good. Having surrounds in the ceiling gives a nice ambiance. siggie
