I own 2 Ultra 10 subs of which both amps have quit working. Emotiva is telling me it will cost about $200 to have them serviced. Should I have this done or just buy replacements? And if I replace them what would you all suggest for that?

We're those subs satisfying to you? Do they fit your needs short/long term? Is that $200.00 per sub? Or for both? This will help us help you a little better.

They will probably be moved to a secondary sytem. The $200 was for repair of both of them.

I would have them repaired/fixed, can't think of anything that makes a controlled sound that doesn't cost more then that!! I use a pair of Klipsch 308s for filler with my other subs, they do a nice job once I got them dialed in. Spend the $200.00 or have a bond fire,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I'd spend the coin. Good luck and have fun!! CEO

i agree… i use plate amps from parts express all the time. gonna buy two spa1000 for my 15" ultramax subs this coming weekend since it is the midwest audiofest with 20% off that one day each year. the spa250 would be a good bet for your sub at $139.80. with 20% off thats $111.84. if you live within driving distance of dayton, oh you should consider stopping by on the 11th, there is also the speaker building competition that day. tchaik………

I would have them serviced. Easier. And the repair for both of them seems very reasonable.

Both power amps died? A bit unusual, have you isolated the cause? Not a good idea to have the amps serviced and then have the same thing happen again.

They both still have very faint output and it happened months apart. I have actually had the RMA for almost a year on them. I originally talked to Nick and he told me what the likely cause was but it's been so long ago I forgot what he told me.
