Is it possible to stack two XPA-1 on one Another? Or do You need more distance between the two?

DO NOT STACK! Period! On an open rack...at least two inches in height.

Are those XPA-1 g2s and if so, do you run them in class A or A/B?

I think it would be okay. But if you can have a bit more space it's better.

While there are many here that will tell you it's OK and while it may save you some rack space, it is a well known fact that heat is an amplifiers worst enemy. While it is expected to warm up a bit, those vents and heat sinks are there for a reason, and not meant to dissipate that heat to rise into the amplifier right above. So count me in the "No Stacking" crowd. Just my opinion and take it for what it's worth.

qdtjni; I don´t have any - yet. Still have to stick to my XPA-2. So let me phrase this differently, if you intend to run them in class A mode, you really do need to give them some decent space in between. Less than 20 cm (8 inches) cannot be good IMVHO.

Has anyone heard of a fan? I use them and love what they do.

Thank You for input.
Ok, I can understand that. In class A mode it´s a big no-no to stack them.
I think you could stack them .. my xpa 1s don't get very warm even if Im pounding the music.. But in class A/B (which I presumably will use, because I don´t think I could the difference) they might be stackable.
A good point! I don´t really have the floor space for two beasts like this. Som sort of shelf would be required.

I never stacked my amplifiers b/c of the heat issue regardless of the amount of heat radiating from the amplifiers. It's long term use I would be most concern with. Not to mention other genres of heat disposal. Heating your home along with a close door room all add up. Getting two racks and stacking them would not take up that much more space than stacking the amplifiers. If you had a hankering to use the amps in class A mode you would'nt have to be concerned about heat dispersion.
IMHO

Has anyone heard of a fan? I use them and love what they do. They don't do much use if you stack the amps, do they? I use one on top of my Pass labs amp. It's the discontinued Sherbourne fan. Very quiet and to me does a nice job.

Probably not unless you put the fan between them. That might not fit because of dimensions of the amps and fan cabinets.

I would not recommend stacking amps. While it is true that in general the Emo amps run fairly cool (except for the XPA-1L's which give Onkyo a run for their money), stacking amps means that there is only a small space between the top of one and the bottom of the other. All of the heat from the bottom amp affects the top amp, plus the small space between them traps the heat rather than what would happen in a more open space in which the heat could dissipate. I feel it's just a bad idea in general and if you want to do so you takes your chances, but with something that expensive I'd not take the risk.

Michael They don't do much use if you stack the amps, do they? Yes they do when you place the fan between them. But then they're not stacked on one another anymore.

Usually I recommend about 1RU spacing as a minimum on the Amplifier spacing, but if you could avoid stacking, that is always better.

Although I would not recommend stacking, my pair of XPA-1's Gen 1 have been stacked since I got them 3 years ago, due to space and expensive cable changes to move them. I did put some of the excellent Herbies extra firm Tall Tenderfeet under each amp(and every other component!) plus a Big Fat Dot for more spacing between the amps. The amps run cooler now, but never really got hot, even at extended high listening levels, and the Tenderfeet added a big change in clarity and SQ, good stuff. That said,a new custom rack is in the plans, to let the XPA-1's run cooler. You are in for a treat, moving up from an XPA-2, to a pair of XPA-1's !
