Hey folks, With the passing of my UMC-200 (warranty), I've gained an extreme appreciation for an old iPod dock: Sony RDP-XF100ip ( Specs). I was able to connect it up as the audio out from my PC (which is my main source of audio/video to the UMC-200) and it's fairly awesome all things considered. I purchased it probably 5 or 6 years ago on sale from $300 to $150 and granted there's always room for improvement, I still generally love it. Unfortunately, it lacks bluetooth (aka wireless for the extreme lazy like me - not to mention I can't dock a newer iphone on the old-style dock). Anyways, I'm in the market for a new bluetooth powered speaker that'll have no issues filling up my bedroom (12 x13 ft) with decent overall sound. It doesn't need to be audiophile quality, but definitely something decent. Space isn't much of an issue, as it/they'll be sitting on top of a dresser in the corner of the room. It'll be used purely for music and given my appreciation for lazyness - bluetooth and the capability to stream from iOS devices is a must. It doesn't need to be overly mobile or portable as I don't expect it to move too much. I've been reading some reviews on the airmotiv 3b, but I'm not entirely convinced they'll provide enough overall output. Something like the 6s or Stealth 8 woulda been cool, but they obviously don't have bluetooth built in as I suspect that's not a common thing on a better speaker. Anyways, any suggestions?

Try Peachtree's Deepblue2. Recently, I was also looking for a Bluetooth speaker for my bedroom and heard the Deepblue2 at Axpona. It blew away all the other speakers away. When I have friends over, they cannot believe how good it sounds.
The price was not cheap at $399 and it won't win any beauty contest , but you get what you pay for.

Really "blu tooth" and "quality audio" don't go together, you would be much better off using wifi if playing music wirelessly is your aim. Something like an Apple TV3 to slink connection to the small Ego then to a pair of Airmotives. What size Airmotives is the only real question? I have 4's in my home office and they are amazing for near field listening. I have set up 6's for a couple of friends of mine and they are immense, large room filling. If was redoing my 5.1 set up in the lounge I'd look real hard at Stealth 8's.
Your bedroom is smaller than my home office, so 4's would probably be OK, depending on how close they are situated. For that small a room 6's would be as big as I would consider. My suggestion spend the money were the most benefit is to be gained starting at the DAC, then use the rest of the budget for the Airmotives.
Cheers Gary.

I hear what you're saying Gary regarding bluetooth and quality audio and I like where your head is at with your suggestion.
These responses were pretty much exactly what I was after....
Thanks everyone!

+1 for che AxiomAir. 115dB continuous SPL (at 1m, I suppose) looks pretty loud to me. The rest of the specs seem respectable too, although like all manufacturer's specs have to be taken with a grain of salt.
