At about 12:30 this morning, one of my two subwoofers awoke itself with a loud & continuing 60 Hz. hum. The other (connected to the same circuit) remained asleep. Only when I shut off the plate amplifier switch did the buzz stop. The preamp was in standby mode. This morning, when I turned the sub on, the hum returns.
Bad capacitor?

Boomzilla Caps were my first thought, assuming you removed the input cables already. Tony

Try replacing the feed cable to that sub, worked for me. Remember this thread? emotivalounge.proboards.com/thread/43052/subs-keep-waking-sleep-help

Cable IS the culprit. When I unplug, the thing's dead silent. Why would a cable fail at 12:30 am? No movement, no signal, no reason...

Boom, you need to head down to Rampart Street and leave an offering at the Voodoo Spiritual Temple. I recommend a bottle of good Puerto Rican rum.
