Greetings from north of the border. Rec'd my sequentially serial numbered pair of XPA-1L's today and am quite impressed with the build quality. None of the cosmetic or quality control issues as mentioned in the pooraudiophile's review. In fact they are kinda pretty and seem to be built like a tank. It's too late to hook em up to the XMC-1 and Belles but I'll post my impressions when I do.

sequential numbers... that's lucky! out of the 16 Emotiva monoblocks I saw around me (ordered by 2 or by 4 by my friends and myself) I never saw sequential numbers...

Hi first let me welcome you to the lounge, and then also as a member of the Emotiva secret mono block society. This year has been good for the secret mono block societies membership with new members joining weekly. Glad to hear that you guys north of the border are enjoying the engaging sounds produced with Emotiva mono blocks amps. Since you are a new member I'm going to take a moment to give you the number one rule of the Emotiva secret mono block society that is: What happens in the secret mono block society stays in the secret mono block society! As long as you remember this simple rule you should enjoy several years of fun listening.
There is another rule that we don't talk about out loud it's mostly whispered directly into the Emotiva secret mono block society members ears. I'm going to share it with you but you didn't hear it from me! That is: The only reason that a Emotiva secret mono block society member should ever sell their mono block amps is to get a bigger mono block amps. Now you can go whisper that into somebodies ear. Looking forward to hearing your impressions.j

I've been listening to them for a couple of days now and my initial impression is "wow". I've read that there wouldn't be any noticeable difference over my XPA5 but, in my opinion, I believe there is. Seems to create an even larger soundstage than the Klipsch Belles already have plus seems to open up the mid and high end a bit. May likely sound better after being run in for a few weeks. I am truly impressed. Money well spent but they do run warm at 120ish degrees F which is not a big problem.

Glad to hear you're enjoying your new mono blocks. What are you using as a source? For several months now up until yesterday actually I've been listening to my XPA-100's. I've listened extensively with each pair of speakers I own. The more I play my XPA-100's the more I like them. I always say they are Emotiva's best kept secret. Because the XPA-100 isn't biased for class a operation they run cool barley warm to the touch no matter how long or how loud I play them.
I switched over to my Yaqin MC-30L tube amp. It generates a lot of heat but it sits on the top shelf of my equipment rack so it's well ventilated. I can't say for sure if the XPA-100's changed any after I played them for a while because I have a tube pre amp that I use with them. I rolled two pairs of the tubes that came with the pre amp and they definitely had an impact on the sound. So keep us posted let us know if they sound different to you after you put some time on them. j

After a few hundred hours of run in time I am convinced the XPA-1Ls sound better (to my ears) than when first set up. I feel they sound better with a larger soundstage and greater definition than my XPA 5. I am truly impressed with the sound and believe they are one heck of an audio bargain plus they look cool. I would encourage anyone in the market for monoblocks to give them a try - you'll be pleasantly surprised. May the Secret Mono Block Society live long and prosper.

Yep, part of the application form involves a critique of your thought of your new MONOBLOCKS.
