I'm wondering if anyone here has switched to an XPA-2 from an Adcom GFA-5500 or had the chance to compare the two. I have a GFA-5500 which I've always been very happy with except for one thing. It takes at least a half hour of playing to sound it's best. I've read this is a characteristic of MOSFET amps. The only reason I would make a change to an XPA-2 or perhaps a pair of Emotiva's mono amps is if the amps are at their best from a cold start or within minutes of powering up.

I was using a GFA-6000 before moving to an XPA-3 and ultimately to NAD. I much preferred the Emotiva as I found the Adcom to be technical sounding. GFA-6000 did seem to have stellar low end control.
