When I connected DC-1 to my laptop using USB cable, Windows 7 detected DC-1 and tried to install driver but couldn't find the driver for DC-1. I had to use setup program downloaded from Emotiva website to make it work. My problem is that every time I disconnected the USB cable, the DC-1 icon disappeared in my laptop control panel, and I had to reinstalled the driver again. Is there any way to make DC-1 driver stay permanently even the USB cable is disconnected? Thank you.

I don't think so. But you shouldn't have to reinstall the driver again everytime. Try uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it. (When windows tries to install it cancel it if you can.)
Another work around is to use the buttons on the DC-1's physical front panel and change the USB from 2 to 1.1. This way you don't need a driver but the sound is limited to 48 khz and you lose the asynchronous mode of USB 2. It isn't reccomended for best sound but does work and doesn't require a driver.
