I've been accumulating some extra 2-channel gear over the past several years. I did not want to get rid of it, but now I have so much sitting around that I MUST do something. Anyone else have some old gear they plan to re-purpose? What do you plan to do?
Here's what I have to spare...
1) a Sonos Connect
2) a pair of Def Tech AW5500's
3) a DC-1
4) a pair of B&W 202's
5) a Rotel 980bx (stereo power amp)
6) wiring running from a Sonos Connect Amp back to my master bathroom
I also have an old Rotel preamp that I may put up for sale. But, for the rest, here's what I am thinking of doing...
1) Put the Def Tech's in the master bath and source them from the Sonos connect amp...that takes care of #2 & #6 and provides morning shower/shave tunes! And, it's clear that shower/shave music is needed...
2) Hook up the Sonos connect to the DC-1 to the Rotel to the 202's in our 3rd floor loft. I'll use the Sonos as the volume control. That takes care of #1, #3, #4, & #5 and provides and extra Sonos zone in our 3rd floor loft. Meaning, wifey can rock out as she sews (wifey is a costumer who works at the Cinci Ballet, Broadway series theater, a local theater, and freelances doing costume work from the loft). And...when I want, I can listen to my old 2-channel amp/speakers a new way!
Hmmm...either that, or run the Sonos connect to the pool speakers via the Rotel to amp up the volume out there...that frees up a Sonos Connect Amp that could power the 202's. But then, what to do with the DC-1? Maybe it needs to power sound from my PC and some other speakers...I could seel my Sonos Play 5 and buy some other speakers... Decisions, decisions...
