Under modes on my UMC-200 for HDMI 1, I can only get Direct, Stereo, and All Stereo to respond when playing a DVD/Bluray. It won't let me into ie. DTS HD, DOLBY, etc. It will work on Netflix, T.V. however. I have a second bluray plugged to HDMI 2 and the UMC will play DTS HD, DOLBY, etc. I had this happen once before, I believe someone else in my house hold may have pushed a button by mistake. But I can't remember how I solved it?

Make sure that your player is outputting the signal as bitstream.

Thank you for the response. OPPO support helped me out. Left HDMI on "Auto", but the sound mode was changed to dual setting. Turned that off and all was good again. I have no idea how that setting was changed. It takes a little effort to get to that setting.

I have this issue as well. I use my xbox as a blueray player and stream netflix movies and such through my smart tv via hdmi. What settings do i need to change? is it on my preamp itself? Or change the output settings on my xbox and tv? I noticed it always says all stereo and wont let me select other modes. It still sounds good but i feel like im not getting the full effect. Still getting used to all this fancy stuff I have an XB1S, and had to go into the audio setting and select bitstream (or dolby digital) out, as I recall. Its default is stereo out. That made the difference for me. ...by the way, "all stereo" is surround (multi channel) on your pre/pro.

So say im playing a game that supports dolby digital and my pre amp is set to all stereo.. am i getting dolby playback or do i need to manually switch from all stereo to dolby through my preamp Is there a Dolby Digital indicator on the display? For DD sources, I would switch to Dolby Digital and call it a day. Edit: OTOH, why not try it both ways to see what you prefer?

...agreed. I usually only see "all stereo" when I play multichannel SACD. Go with DD and you should be good to go! Playing any games or movies in HDR?🙂

I've never really fully understood the modes ... Though I've never needed to change them and they work.
But streaming Netflix I get DOLBY DIGITAL and I select 'stereo' on the remote. It now has both on the screen, which is confusing one is multichannel and the other 2 ch?
Guessing I should RTFM?

Menu/setup/playback in the osd - allows default decoder modes with the particular type of input signal . The mode buttons switch directly to direct or stereo modes exiting out of any preset multichannel modes . The mode +/- buttons next to those give easily accessed alternative dsp modes to those you've preset in the Menu/setup/playback menu No need to muck around with stereo or direct keys if your after multichannel Hope this helps .
