I used Roxul Safe N' Sound for the filler in the bass traps. When I looked on line people seemed to say that it was pretty much as good as Owens Corning 703 but a lot cheaper. I am not very good at describing what I hear and that is probably why I don't post too much around here. To me, in my room, with the bass traps in the 2 corners and the broad range acoustical panels on the ceiling and walls, I noticed that all the sound tightened up, became more precise and it really opened up into the upper frequencies, too. Dialogue was even clearer than before. The bass really became sharper and it actually sounds like it goes deeper. I didn't really believe that it would make that much of a difference, but I am happy to say that it did. I don't have any measuring equipment but I just recently bought a Behringer DEQ2496 and a Behringer DCX2496 and I am hiring a professional to come in and tweak my system. Hopefully, it all works out.

I thought having dual subs eliminated the need for such traps

I thought having dual subs eliminated the need for such traps It doesn't. Even if you have quad subs and you have individually EQ'd all four of them, bass traps are still needed because you can never have enough bass trapping performance. P.S. - Here's an interesting guide: arqen.com/bass-traps-101/placement-guide

Hey folks - I looked around bit to see if using curtains to wrap acoustic panels was used by anyone. I didn't see it so figured to post here. I don't want to wrap acoustic material panels in fabric that doesn't let the sound adsorbed by the material and read somewhere that if you use curtains "try to breath thru them" if you can - you should be fine. I know there are fabrics sold for this - Guilford of Maine and others but found a curtain at Home Depot with a pattern we like.
My tastes - somewhere between "good enough and perfection" translated - if it works...
Any have any thoughts?

I think the blow test is fine, have at it and enjoy the build and music.

Do the bass traps need to run floor to ceiling? All of the corners in my theater I will not be able to run them floor to ceiling.

Do the bass traps need to run floor to ceiling? All of the corners in my theater I will not be able to run them floor to ceiling. Having them run floor to ceiling is beneficial as it creates more absorption, but may not be necessary. One the things about having audio in living space is that there will always have to be some sort of compromise.

Do the bass traps need to run floor to ceiling? All of the corners in my theater I will not be able to run them floor to ceiling. They don't. But the more total surface area you treat in corners, the better, and, because all three axial room modes meet in each trihedral corner (where three surfaces meet), whereas only two out of three axial room modes meet in each dihedral corner (where two surfaces meet), treatment of trihedral corners with corner bass traps deserves special attention where possible. arqen.com/bass-traps-101/placement-guide
