So I've got the equipment shown in the signature, most all of which has a 12-volt trigger input for "wake-up." To date, I've not used the trigger function (just extra wires, etc.). I normally go around the room and flip the switches on each component before listening to music. So for those of you familiar with the triggering function, what are the advantages and/or disadvantages of using the 12 volt triggering function on your equipment? I already have an Emotiva ET-3 trigger expansion module, so voltage sag won't be an issue.
Thanks - Boomzilla

Ahhh let's not leave out the good old back, no bending over to reach for an amp power button. Also cool factor when everything just turns on. Cons: if you don't set the triggers correctly and ur wondering why it won't go on.

I trigger whatever has a trigger input and no IR and can't control with my Harmony. For me, that's 3 amps and a Panamax power center. You can configure triggers of the XMC to trigger only what's needed for a given listening mode. For stereo listening only my XPA-1Ls are triggered. If I switch to 5.1 content, my XPA-5 automatically comes on. Abd if I plug in some headphones, all amps shut down.

OK - Now a follow-up... If I bundle all my wires for clutter-reduction, should I bundle the trigger wires with the AC cables or the signal wiring? I'm guessing the latter since the trigger is DC and shouldn't cause any hum in the signal wires?

The trigger line has a signal for about 1/1,000,000 of a second. No?

I have a Parasound amp that "triggers" when it senses a signal from the XLR/unbalanced cable. But it uses 20 watts per hour, so I may go back to triggering.

I have 2 triggers circuits, one from the USP-1 that's daisy chained to a pair of XPA-1L's for the LF and RF plus the XPA-100 for the sub woofer. That's used for listening to stereo 2.1 music. The other is from the UMC-200 to the XPA-5, that's used for the C, SR and SL for 5.1 movies plus Zone 2 (veranda)speakers. Works for me.
Cheers Gary

I just received a trigger cable on Friday and I'm using between a Pioneer AVR and PS Audio Quintet to turn on three Stealth Monitors and it works like a charm. Before I had to manually turn them on through the Quintet which was a minor inconvenience when compared to turning them all on individually. It sends a very fast 12 volt signal to signal on / off.
