So I ordered an XSP-1 g2 and it arrived today. When I was unpacking it I heard a loud rattle from inside. It sounded like a screw rolling around. Called customer support. They told me to take the top off and take out the screw.
Inside I found a small machine screw rolling around. WTF? Lol. I laughed and thought wow did I just get screwed.
The sad thing is that I'm mating it with a DC-1 dac and two XPR-1s so I've been reluctant to believe the quality control complaints that have been surfacing on the forums recently. Unfortunately I must say that build quality might not be what it used to be with Emotiva.
I'm sure glad I was able to get the XPR-1s before Emotiva becomes a mass market consumer grade company in the big box retail world. It's obvious that QC has deteriorated. I'm sad the reference line products are discontinued.

Well sir, I'm still using my NHT 2.9s. After my rant last year about the 2.9s not playing nice with an XPA3 I've had 4 different amps hooked up and they still sound awesome.
The mono blocks are in transit now. Can't wait to light em up with the differential balanced signal. Swapping out a custom modded musical fidelity tube preamp in favor of the differential design. I'm very excited!

Ii'd be concerned about where it fell out of. You should look around inside and see if there is something not secured that should be.

I think the build quality is fine with Emotiva. Stuff happens. The main thing is that all is working well and you do have a good warranty.
I would definitely take brubaca's advice and try to see if there is an obvious missing screw somewhere, but other than that, if the unit is working fine, I would not stress. You've reported it and they are aware.

Shipped across the pacific ocean. Then freight from California to Tennessee. And freight to you. That's quite a few miles. And pretty rough ones to boot. 1 loose screw out of how many thousands sold ? I guess that could mean poor quality control to some.

I'm not knocking Emo here either as I understand this was a B stock item that had probably been opened more than once for inspection/repair before going to retail. Easy to imagine a screw rolling in from a work bench; which wouldn't freak me out. Scott

Reading your post made me realize how long it's been since I have bought any new (new and/or used) equipment. Every time I think I need or want something or start to buy a piece, I realize that what I have is working and sounding so great, that I really don't need anything. It's actually been a couple of years, which for me, is eternity!!
My point is that my processor and all of my amps are all Emotiva and they work perfectly. I have had zero issues with any of my pieces. Yes, a loose screw rolling around is concerning, but the QC at Emotiva is always excellent and if there is a problem, they always work to fix it.
Be comfortable in that truth!!

I had a loose screw in my XMC-1, and it was only shipped from Tennessee.

My mother always said I came with a loose screw. My ex-wife was in total agreement. My second wife calls me baka gaijin (in English --- crazy foreigner).
