Shipped across the pacific ocean. Then freight from California to Tennessee. And freight to you. That's quite a few miles. And pretty rough ones to boot. 1 loose screw out of how many thousands sold ? I guess that could mean poor quality control to some. If any package testing was done at all that should never be enough to cause a screw to come loose. More likely it was a manufacturing mistake. Lowering manufacturing quality over time in China is fairly normal for a company the size of Emotiva manufacturing in China. That might even be why they are building product in the USA now. More surprising to me is that they are backed up a month on repairs and their support has, at least in my case, become useless. The day "just call them" turned into having to deal with a rude person on the phone I realized I was done buying new Emotiva products. Just today I bought a AV7702 to replace my UMC-200 skipping the opportunity to use my lifetime discount to get an XMC-1 for the same price. I am only 1 customer but I am sure others have or will notice the degradation of service as well.

I am only 1 customer but I am sure others have or will notice the degradation of service as well. I have to be honest, I am seeing a lack of QC as well. I just sent back one of my ERC-2's due to the player making noise and failing to completely play a disc without shutting down. After two weeks in service and multiple emails back and forth I received the player back....only to find the player now plays hesitantly and makes ten times the noise it did previously. They replaced a spindle motor which they stated would silence the player....not so much. Not only is it way noisier but the discs now have a hard time initially loading into the player. It almost seems as though the load slot is out of alignment now. Once a disc is loaded, it takes a long time for the discs to play....all the while a grinding noise is coming from what I believe to be the now obvious spindle motor.... After a couple more emails they have now sent me another RMA...and what???.... I have to fork over another $30 in shipping to send back the originally non-repaired player once again. I am awaiting an email with details on the situation. Very frustrating and to be continued...

The more units sold the more problems will arise. Emotiva will have to invest more money into their repair centers, waiting a month for a repair is too much IMO.

If there is a silver lining Emo is picking up the shipping for my return service per their email this morning. Too bad I will have another three week wait to get it back. At the same time, luckily it is not my only system.

For the record the XSP-1 that arrived with the screw I appears to be operating flawlessly.

Actually yes I do! I kept it on playing over night. This morning it is a lot smoother and more detailed. For an analog preamp I'm very impressed. Not as sweet as my musical fidelity tube but more detailed and very enjoyable.
I'm installing the DC-1 that just arrived today later tonight. Interested to see if XSP1 ans DC1 can play nice together. XLR all the way.

The only reasons I didn't go Xmc1 is I'm a 2 channel only guy and I wanna spin a good turntable and the xsp1 has a fabulous phono preamp.
