I have a UPA-200 powering my Klipsch F-3s that have a sensitivity of 97db and fed from my Yamaha HTR-5860. I also just bought 4 of the UAW-8.2s to round out my 7.1 system in my bonus room. I am a little worried about driving the 4 ohm load with the surround channels of the HTR so I am considering the idea of changing out the UPA-200 for a used UPA-700. The question is how much of a step down would that be? I have a limited amount of space on the entertainment stand and I wouldn't be able to just add a UPA-500 or UPA-700 in the existing stand.
I know the WPC is lower but with such a high sensitivity on my mains vs those surrounds will it make an incredible amount of difference to step down in wattage for the mains? Is there any other big sonic difference between the two?

I don't think you'll be upset The surrounds take up very little power compared to the fronts. The unused power that is not used by the surrounds get used up by the channels that need them. So for instance a UPA-500 can produce about the same amount of power as a UPA-200 with just two channels connected. The UPA-700 has a beefier power supply so I doubt you'd lose much.

You will not be able to tell the difference, trust me I had both of them and still have my Upa-700 now. There was no sound difference at all from what I can remember.
