I need an opinion about a NAS configuration. I can connect to my router or via USB directly into my AV receiver to play FLAC files. Is there a reason to go, or not to go, one way or the other?

Depending on your router, and how well your AVR works, you may find that one or the other works better with your particular equipment. Don't obsess over trying to hear some subtle difference in sound quality; you probably won't (unless your AVR just happens to do a better job with one method than the other). Try both ways and, if you get occasional dropouts or ticks, then use the other one. I need an opinion about a NAS configuration.
