I'm sold! Now that Alexa is coming to it and it has voice search I can't think of a better interface to replace my buggy Sony Blu ray players youtube app. My problem though is that it is HDMI output. Luckily I have an HDMI to optical ouput that works with my DAC on my TV. But that is bbad planning. They are getting rid of a whole host of DAC options. And Apple TV did the same, too bad, but those not using an HDMI connection are probably few and far between. Still, it really limits your options.

When this was announced I got kinda excited too but then started thinking about it further. I have a Sony 4K TV at my desk for a computer monitor (99.9% its purpose) but still wanted to play around with TV/4K stuff. It's a smart TV that already has an Amazon Instant Video app, and we are already Amazon Prime customers. So... in theory we can already watch any 4K shows streamed to this TV via the built-in app. Would it be better with the Fire TV module, or no different? Not really caring about talking to the device ;-)

I'm guessing about the same. But....you want to watch a show you just say "watch desperate housewives on amazon", voila you're there watching Teri Hatcher
