Hi I have one of the 1st gen XDA-1's that suffered from a "volume control" issue. In order to solve this Emotiva sent out a new front panel PCB along with instructions on how to switch out the old one. Haven't got around to doing it until now - mostly because I expected to replace the XDA-1 in any case (the low-volume precision issue). Attempted to do the change today and after opening the chassis I discovered that one of the caps had blown. I have not noticed anything out of whack, but I use the RCA connectors and this cap seems to be related to the balanced output section? (as a side note, I use the RCA as the XLR sounded way inferior when I tried it out initially - wonder if this is related). So on to the main question Is it safe to turn on the DAC again in this state? (does it depend on which connector I use)? Thanks Attachments:

You might want to talk to Emotiva about this. You could get the wrong advice here seeing that most of us are not EE's

^This. I wouldn't power on the unit. Contact Emotiva.

The dac needs to be disposed of properly.
Send it to me and I'll take care of it for you.
