I recently bought a pair of Rogers LS-4a speakers (8-inch two ways). One of the tweeters is gone. The originals, as I understand it, were ~8 ohm SEAS units designed for Rogers. I'm Googling tonight, but have been unable to determine the sensitivity, frequency response, or nominal impedance of the original tweeters. If any of youse guys have data and are willing to share, I'd be most appreciative. Since the originals are likely unobtainable, any help in selecting a suitable pair of "equivalent" replacements would also be welcome. I'm assuming that I'll never get anything close to a match by replacing but one... Thanks - Boom

I just took the tweeter apart. The tweeter is NOT blown. Instead, the magnet got knocked off the tweeter (probably by an impact during shipping). The bad news - the plastic stubs that secure the magnet to the back of the plastic voice-coil plate are broken (and no replacements are available). The good news - I think that I can glue the magnet to the plastic voice-coil plate & end up with a functioning tweeter again.
I'll buy some glue tomorrow & test my theory. There's nothing to lose - if the glue doesn't work, then the tweeter is gone anyway. Replacements are available on eBay for about $35. Hopefully, the speaker will play sweetly after the glue job & all is well.
But the expression on my face when I pulled the tweeter & found only a voice-coil - no magnet, must have been priceless! LOL

Well, after gluing the magnet back on to the plastic mounting plate of the dome & voice coil, I once again have a working tweeter.

Admit it, for few seconds you thought you had found the Holy Graal of drivers' design: the magnetless tweeter....... :-)
