I don;t know Nick. If I were you I would gtet rid of the UPA-500. It's not impressive enough to be worth keeping. It's not bad. It's a great entry level amp. But you simply have more excellent amps at your disposal! As an obiect based speaker driver, I think it is superior to any other amp for this purpose, except for a UPA-700. I wonder if there are any for sale?

I think it was inappropriate to be told your price was too high in the FS thread, and for you to encourage that discussion (if that was the case). The 'For Sale' threads in the emporium should be a place for sellers to post an item for sale and a price, requests for location, more technical information, or condition by a prospective buyer would also be appropriate; but comments about the price, or comparing to other sales (essentially trying to invalidate the asking price) don't belong in the thread and should be PM'd along with an offer.
I agree with others that something sells at the point that the buyer and seller agree on a price (however high or low that might be).

Even if the thread starter is okay with it, I still don't think it is appropriate because it sets a bad precedent for other sale threads in which people may think it is okay to be discussing the validity of a price, and pointing to that one thread as evidence that it is acceptable to do so. People can ask what they want for what they are selling. Of what business is it of ours? The only time I think it is appropriate to say something is if the seller is trying to commit fraud by lying or being misleading about what they are selling.

I pmd him a fair offer...he declined and said to feel free to post about the offer to excite the thread (I can cut and paste the PM if needed but would rather not) so no...it wasnt inappropriate..everything was handled kosher

That kind of taints the whole category. It's like bringing politicians, lobbyists and the media into the Lounge.
