I am ready to take the plunge and get a new remote. Was thinking of one with the total control system but it's way pricey and I know I'll tinker with things way too much and can't afford to have them reprogram it every month.
Next up, the complete control remotes and CCP software. I've already got the software and I've played with it a bit to make sure it's something I want to tackle. Pretty much decided on the MX-1200 remote. I've seen it in person and is perfect for what I'm looking for.
Here's my dilemma. I'm not too familiar with what these remotes are capable of as far as RF and that's a big part of why I want it.
I would like it to control my comcast box, Roku and Lutron caseta lighting. I'm having a hard time finding information about how exactly they work. Do the remotes actually put out a RF signal to things like the Roku or Caseta switches? Or does everything go to the MRF-350 first and that is what puts out the RF signal? I know the comcast box will also do IR but that's not an option for the Caseta dimmers and Roku. I've completed my basement home theater build and have all new Lutron lighting so that's a done deal and there's no turning back.
I see on URC's website talk about their products now working with Caseta, but am worried this is only with the total control system, not CCP.
I know the software is supposed to be only used in the hands of dealers, so let's not go down that road. If I have to pay $1500 for a remote, RF substation and programming, I'll hire a neighborhood kid to do all my button pushing for me. I can build a car, a house, speakers, computers etc so I know I can figure out the software and be happy. I just need to figure out what the restrictions are and if the CCP remotes and do what I want.
Logitech remotes are out of the question. I've had a few and think they're junk. I love the URC remotes, button layout and power of the software.
Also, last but not least, can I enter the codes for the XMC-1 into the CCP software and have it control it? Kind of all hinges on that and I haven't not read any definitive info from anyone with such a remote working properly with the XMC-1.
Thanks in advance
Paul
