I have a xda-2 gen 2, and just purchased a mini x a-100 gen 2. I currently have my tv and apple tv hooked to the xda via optical. The xda is running to an older HK 430 (from the 70's, it needs some refurbishing, noisy caps and pots). All driving some small Klipsch KG 1.5's. I also have a Klipsch powered sub, not in use. So i will replace the hk 430 with the mini x. How should I control the volume, and can I hook up the powered sub to the mini x outputs (if needed)? Thanks

I would set the volume to max on the XDA-2 and then control the volume with the Mini-X.

I don't know if this can be done, but I believe the XDA-2 has a remote that can control the volume while the x-100 does not. If using the XDA-2 volume will this control the volume of speakers connected to the x-100?

Not sure how the volume adjustment is going to work. Once I get the mini I will have to try several options and report back. Anyone on the 'adding a powered sub option'? Can I run a powered sub via one of the RCA outputs?

You should be able to do it via one of the RCA outs on the mini. Actually I'd use both R and L. Which Klipsch sub are you using?

From what I gather the RCA outputs are line level on the mini=x. So do it that way but control the volume from the XDA-2. Use the subwoofer crossover and the gain knob to belnd it in with the speakers. Usually you would expect the crossover level to be between 80 and 150 hz (relatively middle to high). Then adjust the gain volume level on the sub to get an even blend. Use a frequency sweep on youtube to make where the subwoofer volume and gains to be smooth as possible in volume.

The sub is a R-10sw, nothing special, but good enough to pair with KG 1.5's. So Mini x volume relatively high, and control the volume with xda. Sub connected with both L and R coax to sub, then frequency sweep. If this sounds right, it will be how I try the initial set up. Thanks!!!

Put the minix to max. Then control volume by XDA-2.

Put the minix to max. Then control volume by XDA-2. Exactly. If you let the mini control the volume you would have no control over the sub volume - thats not good even if you like lots of bass. The output jacks on the mini simply pass any signal the input side receives and ships it to the output jacks at whatever volume the XDA supplies. Plus there is no remote input to control volume on the mini - a plus for having the XDA do the job. I have two similar amps to the mini and both have volume controls - the Sherbourn PA 2-50 and the Emo Flex amp. I'm very impressed with them.
