I am having problems with my Emotiva preamp. The left and right sides do not have equal output. It originated only when the crossover was engaged but now it seems to be all the time. Anyone have any experience with this?

Have you swapped channels on your inputs, and your outputs to make sure it's the XSP-1 causing the problem? (of course you don't swap inputs and outputs at the same time).

Yeah I would flip the cables to see if the problem moves.

Have tried every possible combination of wires and swaps. It is definitely the right side that is losing about 6dB when the crossover is engaged. I am testing it with an external meter and 100% sure it is the Preamp.

In the meantime, do something else.

Since the XSP-1 hasn't been out 5 years, all of them should be under warranty, unless it was purchased used and not transfered.

Lets talk room treatments in this time of reflection. Whats your long term strategy? Whats your % of two channel to HT?

This sounds really odd. Are you running with any trim engaged or direct? I ask only to see if this would change anything.

You haven't listed all of your gear, this would help so much. If your inputting from a TT then it my not be the XSP-1 at all. It could be the pick-up, or the needle, or the cartridge.
Help us help you ,,,,,

Emotiva said it is out of warranty. To be clear, it is a problem with 100% the output from the unit, only when the crossover is engaged. No matter what input is selected or what source is connected. I have toned each channel to confirm the issue. I know the problem is in the preamp, I am just curious if anyone has had a similar issue so I can get an idea of what repair is need and what the cost might be.
Otherwise I really love the sound of this unit. Just bummed that I can't use its internal crossover at the moment.
On the subject of the warranty, Emotiva claimed it isn't under warranty anymore. I bought it off eBay and we transferred the warranty so not sure why, It is a Gen1 and not a Gen2. Has the Gen1 been out for more than 5 years?

I just checked old forum records, and the XSP gen 1 was not released until after 9/12. So, typically, an xsp-1 gen 1 would still be in warranty. However, there have been some conditions in which one may not be under warranty...such as a seller not transferring the warranty or it being sold "as is" from a warehouse 51 sale or the like.
If I owned one and was told it was not under warranty, I would call and seek explanation as to why it was not. But, be open to the possibility that it simply is not.

YES. The first XSP-1 I had did this and got very warm and then would stink of electronics. I sent it in for repair but UPS crushed it. The replacement seems fine.
One of the reviews on the XSP-1 had this issue.

None are 5 years old, you might also try to contact the eBay seller to see if he'll take another shot at transferring to you.
